Good luck Chiggs... I wish I could join you but work has me in a sling for several more weeks straight. Then I am free to explore for a few days. I'm planning a two maybe three night gig with coaster, so you may want to join us. Somepoint in early June is the plan. Hell's hole is a tentative destina...

Backpacking partner wanted
I am looking for a partner to go on longer backpacking trips (say, 2 or 3 nights). You can view my profile for more info about me. I like to go places where I can set up a base camp the first day, stay over night, then screw around with side trips the next day or two, then hike out. I try to travel ...

Once again Snick, thanks for your views. I am a writer by trade, so it shouldn't be too hard to describe the journey - although I tend to be very lazy with my words when not writing my usual business books. When you write for a living, your main objective in your free time is to NOT WRITE. I imagine...

turbid water and such
I've used the PUR filter in the grand canyon. I wasn't aware you had to also use tablets, as Slayte suggests. I like Fritzski's idea to only use tablets in concert with the filter when the water is, how did he say, 'turbid.' I was told by another hiker that the PUR filter is better than a tablet, no...

Much thanks Snick. Can I use one of those cheap disposable cameras? Then I suppose I'd have to get the photos scanned in jpeg? Are their any good views on this trail... is it wooded? NDC

Why is Hellsgate trail not in the trailDex. It's in Payson... about 11 miles long passing through a canyon. I am hiking it this weekend. In on Saturday and out on Sunday. Anyone interested in going? Does anyone know this trail... are there any good views?

Thanks Cindy and nighthiker. I don't have 4x4, so I am still wondering if I can drive in sedan-like from the North on 260 or 405...anyone?
I'd love to do the cayonerring thing, but I don't have the gear for that yet.

Overnighter
Hi all. I'm thinking about going this weekend (May 3rd) for a one- or two-nighter somewhere relatively nearby Fountain Hills, where I live. Was considering the Mazatal mountain area, or possibly the superstitions. I am not familiar with either of these areas, so someone who knows where they are goin...
