***If this has already been posted elsewhere, please delete*** In addition to partial week, full closures of US 60 just east of Superior, it sounds like the LOST Queen Creek Canyon segment and the climber’s pull-off by the tunnel may be closed for a while. Re: Turkey Creek Trail #34: Forest Road 4408

Thank you @DixieFlyer ! After driving 4408 yesterday, I’d mostly agree with the Forest Service update. High clearance and 4x4 is required for upper trailhead access. Specifically, there is one hill (visible on satellite) that is halfway up the 4408 that is too steep to be sustainable (a less steep b...

Turkey Creek Trail #34: Forest Road 4408

Has anyone driven up to the end of of Forest road 4408 above Happy Valley Road? We are looking to hike the Turkey Creek Trail #34 up to the Mica Mountain area, and I am curious if one could drive to the end of the road at 4600 feet without (for example) puncturing an oil pan. My vehicle is a stock 4...

Also mentioned in that link is the “Poop Knife”, touted as “dishwasher safe”. That is NOT going in my dishwasher, lol.

Re: Tucson hiker attacked by bees on Pontatoc Ridge Trail

@whereveriroam Probably Africanized like most in southern Arizona I’ve read. We’ve had a couple Africanized hives removed from our back yard here in Oro Valley. They were no joke, vicious, vengeful little things, stinging neighbors 2 doors down because their hive was removed.

Re: Breckenridge resident climbs over 400,000 feet to set Max Vert October challenge record

In no way does that sound fun or sane. I don’t understand the whole record setting mindset. Set a record, someone else will break it, and then all that punishing effort and injury for nothing.

@SpiderLegs I’ve noticed that too, with storms hitting hard close to Oracle and Pusch Ridge the past couple of weeks. I live over by El Conquistador, close to Oracle.

Perfect for accessing trailheads during winter conditions. I’d probably just cruise Oracle during rush hour in this though. https://www.craigslist.org/about/best/v ... 74296.html

Re: Coronado NF seeks input on Catalina plan

It mentions “Consider sharing feedback like: Unauthorized trails that are not sustainable.” I’d like to see some of these “unauthorized trails” like Pusch Peak and some at Catalina State Park, turned into official USFS trails. Perhaps with a properly constructed trail bed and re-route some of these ...
