Re: WB US60 to close in Tempe

I believe it was Hallman who was against adding WB US60 lanes without also constructing more I-10 lanes to accept the wider 60 *. As we can see, he was/is correct. This ADOT gyration is merely another 'treat the symptom, not the disease' move. Akin to those white, plastic posts to delineate the I-10...

WB US60 to close in Tempe

The westbound stretch of US 60 (Superstition Freeway) in Tempe will be closed this weekend (July 13-16) as part of an ongoing safety project designed to improve traffic flow and reduce crashes between Rural Road and the Interstate 10 interchange, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation...

Re: Access to Lava River Cave from I-40 / FR171

Even when the road is not at its best it is likely 20 min. quicker (from I-40/I17) than going through Flag & 180 - IF they are not reconstructing the I-10/I-17 Interchange for the 3rd time.
PLUS.... you can visit The Roadhouse with its terrific craft/draft selection!

Re: Best place to grab a post-hike craft beer

@hikeaz Every business venture the ex-owner of Nimbus, Jim Counts, was associated with ended in court. Yep.... by just about anyone's account, he's a shifty dude. Starting about 20 years ago when no one else was a player, he and Nimbus should have OWNED Tucson. He's avoided mostly all the Az. Brewe...

Re: Best place to grab a post-hike craft beer

Catalina Brewing (Tucson) is running a groupon - $9.25 for a flight and a pint.

NIMBUS (also Tucson) appears to be in trouble or defunct. (again)

Re: Apache Sitegreaves Backpacking Ideas

You do not mention the time of year for your trip, but I would suggest the Black over the Blue this time of year due to elevation and better chance for fish. Bear Wallow is one access point - nice camping near the Black/B.W. confluence. Note: Investigate White Mountain Apache Tribal permit requireme...

Re: Best place to grab a post-hike craft beer

Helluva Brewing Company , a self-described ‘‘suds and smoke’’ brewpub, is planning to open this fall in the former Zipps Sports Grill building on the northeast corner of McClintock and Ray in Chandler. - Twenty beers will be on tap, including eight from Helluva: an IPA, American wheat, pale ale, li...

Mount Graham (post Frye fire)

With Coronado NF website being of no use, I was wondering about any contemporary beta on the trail condition(s) in the Mount Graham vicinity, please. Specifically, which trails (and the surrounding forest) survived generally intact.
Many thanks!

The Garmin inReach Mini - It’s light (3.5 oz), diminutive in size, pairs with a smartphone for easy text messaging, interacts with social media (geez....really?), provides tracking information for loved ones, and has a long battery life. (Several days on 1-hour tracking interval)

@hikeaz it scares me to go down into the WCC. Even driving through those areas when it's this dry freaks me out. Re: Redflex Corruption

The city council in Denton, Texas urged city staff to test the effect of an extra second of yellow warning time for the traffic signal at the corner of West Oak Street and North Carroll Boulevard. The experiment took place in April, and it took no time for the results to become obvious -- a 62 perce...
