@chumley Omg. I did a ShowLow run last night. It was my first time seeing the aftermath of the fire. The mountains above Slate creek look lik a hairless cat! That’s gonna be a mess when it rains. Also the amount of Saguaros we are gonna lose between the Ballantine Trail and Bush Highway is going to...

Re: The Hike Book
I like looking at different hiking books. I don’t think there is much in it that isn’t on Haz. Nothing to hardcore. It does list a few of the AZT sections. Sometimes looking at these kind of books get me to checkout new areas. I enjoyed flipping through it.

2020 Hazolutions
Hello fellow Hazers, It's that time of year again. I'd love to hear how your 2019 went and what you have planned for 2020. I personally had a lot of highs and lows. Health issues, family deaths, family drama, etc. I won't bore you with all that. HAZ wise I had a pretty good year although I was a sla...

Re: Geronimo Trail SoMo north (lower) end parking
@DarthStiller It's ok to park there Chris. Go up 20th street. After you go through the round about it will be just a little farther on your left. The houses stop and the Boy Scout fence starts. There is a little dirt area to park half a dozen cars or so. The Geronimo Trail has a sign there. It goes...

If you want to stay in the Prescott area I would say Goldwater Lake or Watson Lake would be more fun for that age. Have fun!!

Re: seeking car camping ideas near Mt Baldy
@desertdryad Big Lake has worked for me. You could fish if you wanted to. They have showers for a few bucks and bathrooms. If you take BobP he cooks a great meal....lol If you have an extra half day Thompson Trail is a flat 6 mile hike by the Black River that is a nice add on.

@Jim_H
Heliograph Peak looked pretty overgrown to me. Might be easier to take the road then push your way through on the downhill making a loop out of it.

Re: AZT Total Elevation Gain
Interesting. we did all our sections Northbound thinking it was way more uphill. Guess it was mental and we really took the easy route. LOL Of course there is the parts we had to hike to and from trailheads that we couldn't drive to. Like Romero Pass, the old version of the one after Kelvin Bridge, ...
