Re: Hiking Group Size Limit & Popular Destination Control
When I was young and new to backpacking a group called the Boy Scouts of America helped me learn skills and introduced me to special places. I would have never acquired many of the skills that formed the foundation of may outdoor skills. Now that I am older, I am not interested in joining groups. I ...

Re: Permit Notification trick when the permit is late
@chumley I gave them my email but did not see any reply. With all the junk mail I get I might have just deleted it. I listed my age as 99 but I am still getting all sorts of solicitations from women in the Scottsdale area that want to date me. I thought that would scare them away but it just seems ...

Permit Notification trick when the permit is late
I know we have discussions on our HAZ forum about Permits. But I want to share my anxiety and help others with their potential anxiety about getting a permit. I submitted my permit on 12/31 for May and got my fax confirmation. Then I waited. I know it can take 3 weeks to get a permit in the mail. 1/...

Water off again at Grand Canyon
I searched but couldn't find an existing thread.
Water is off again due to breaks in the pipeline.
http://www.knau.org/post/pipeline-break ... strictions
I know people are planning on R2Rs so be careful and check before you go.

Re: Tour of the Borderlands
Why this time of year? Do you ever do this in the winter? Tax season is such an interruption for me. I've been to other 10th Cav sites and would love to see this. Looking forward to your triplog and might try it.

Re: Challenging Hike Suggestions
Look at Superstition Peak 5057 from Carney Springs. https://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=540. This is the eastern end of the Superstition Ridgeline. Flatironr/Siphon Draw is the western end of the Superstition Ridgeline. The Ridgeline is a challenging hike but I would strongly recommend hiking it...

Re: National Monuments Undone??
@hikeaz I don't have time to dig into case law, but it looks like your legal theory is wrong. Astute readers might wonder how areas such as the Grand Canyon meet the definition of “the smallest area compatible” in the act. The key is that in many cases, “scientific interest” can justify protection ...

Here is my triplog with some info on the airplane wreck. https://hikearizona.co... The road construction I talked about was in 2007. Hopefully it is all finished by now.
