Hiking Clubs are a great place to catch a day hike. REI has a list. Sierra Club has lots of fun, exciting day hikes for all ranges of hikers.

I am leading some fairly easy hikes this spring for the Sierra Club and if you cannot keep up, you will not be lost because the trails are really safe.
