Re: Strange light near Sycamore Creek/Highway 87

@Nighthiker
THey looked pretty bright to be solar, but who knows. I've only seen them when heading south.

Strange light near Sycamore Creek/Highway 87

Something tells me this has been discussed before but I don't find it. At least twice now when coming south on the Beeline at night, just south of the second Sycamore Creek crossing at about 33.78805 -111.498262, I've seen bright white and blue lights on top of the butte there. They don't last long....

Re: Goldfield Fire

I heard from a "reliable source" that the fire was started by one of the home owners in the area. He/she got a $200 fine and the fire cost $3.3 million to date.

@RedRoxx44
I wonder if anyone notified the land manager of the problem with the road.

Re: Who Drives or Drove a Jeep

@SuperstitionGuy My Dad had a 47 Jeep "truck," bigger than the military version but with some of the features you mention. The gear shift was on the floor, with another lever for 4WD and a third for Hi/Low range. We worked it to death many times, and my dad added a dump box which ran off the PTO. O...

@Nighthiker

That's scary, where do you see 4000 acres? The FS reports show <600.

Re: Polle Fire

Things are looking better on this. The satellite fire detection website https://maps.nwcg.gov/sa/#/%3F/EditLayerActiveIncidents/34.2677/-111.5292/15 shows only one hit within the last 12 hours. Cool temps and higher humidity should bode well for the work on-site tonight. I'll be much relieved if the...

Doesn't appear that anyone is keeping inciweb updated very well this year, is there another site where information is being posted?

Re: Blue Range Primitive Area - Linking Dutch Blue Creek with Bear Mtn

Since someone asked. The liability is a huge issue, there are policies and procedures to follow, none of which are convenient and most that seem like overkill, but all created for reasons, mostly because the FS is seen as the deep pockets to sue over anything. Drop a tree on someone—there’s a Ranger...

sign at Mt Peeley TH

As recent photos show, the AZT plaque at the Mt Peeley TH is in pretty tough shape. ATA has a replacement and we'll get it up there soon, but some information on the mounting screws on this particular plaque would be helpful. Otherwise, we take the whole garage worth of tools up there and find we ne...

Re: 4 day backpack on east side of Mazatzals

We camped near the junction to Hopi, off the west side of the Divide Trail a few hundred feet in the deadfall. Not stellar by any means but it was flat, and we saw evidence of others from many years ago-old fire ring and a pick mattock.
