@Grimey Use the emoji and people will be able to tell if you are making a joke. Your post just looked like the typical whining that permeates the forum, these days. You know, like the next post under mine. Also, the "----------------------" is to indicate that only the top part of my post...

Re: USDA Forest Service Restructuring / Realigning
@Grimey I believe the SW regional office is currently in Albuquerque, so Phoenix really isn't too different. It is closer to the Tonto, which actually has very few trees to zero over much of it's area unless you count cactus as a tree, and the Prescott, Coconino, and Coronado NFs, at least. Apache ...

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
A local (AZ) meteorologists was saying that the ridge of high pressure is more like what you would see in June than March. The pressure itself, he meant. No moisture to work with, but that type of intense pressure is typically what brings in monsoonal flow. If this sort of high intensity continues i...

Why? All I see are two native animals enjoying the great outdoors. One just happens to be slightly anthropomorphized and has a large grin, for some reason. Surely, nothing untoward happening there. Is there a sudden outbreak of bear hatred?

@DixieFlyer Interesting that all but 2 of those are in the last 12 years, and all of them are since 1980. How much of that is the result of urban heat island affects vs warming in the low desert? Is there a decrease in freeze or near freeze events, and what percentage of the warming trend is relate...

Fire used in aspen regeneration.
In case anyone is interested.
[ youtube video ]
At 33:48 it talks about the aspen (and oak) regeneration in the Wallow Fire.
Fencing can be used to limit herbivory in mechanically treated areas, but that isn't practical on the landscape.

Interestingly, NEPA, or the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, and the EIS, or Environmental Impact Statement required under that act, was in response to public concerns over various environmental issues during the 1960s, and I'm sure before then in the 50s and maybe 40s. https://en.wikipedi...

Re: Western Drought
People talking about hydrology and the lack of winter snow over critical watershed areas?
Oh, no. No, it's just the usual complaining about something stupid and totally unrelated to the subject itself.
