Re: Quail

In response to Nighthiker's reply: By this time of year baby quail are already quite large. In answer to your question, a few weeks ago on the way to the Rogers Trough trailhead for a hike to Reavis, there were quail everywhere. We had to dodge many of them with the jeep (they don't like to fly unl...

Spare time? Man, I'd like to do it all the time, like J&S did last summer, or like a 25 year old named Mike Shapiro did recently: he hiked the entire length of the Pacific Crest Trail in five and a half months. He told this story at an REI clinic on the 18th of February. I found it amazing and v...

Re: Post Seasons Greetings Here

I better end this or someone like Teva will surely make a comment about yawning. Aw, that's OK. I start talking sappy like that sometimes too, when I've had too much eggnog. Nah, Stan talkin' sappy ain't got nothin' to do with eggnog; poor guy lives with somethin' like a zillion women; his voice ai...

Re: Cold Saturday morning (Dec. 21)

If I get any west side folks, I'm up for a Squaw Peak loop or something I'm less familiar with. Hey olesma, or any interested, I'm doing the Go-John trail in the Cave Creek recreation area with a group from my church on Saturday. We're leaving the church parking lot at 67th ave and Happy Valley aro...

Post Seasons Greetings Here

I would just like to take the time now to extend my gratitude to all of you HAZers out there. You have truly blessed my life during the past year. I remember how scary it was to make that initial post last April and submit some pics to get the free HAZ t-shirt. I had never in my life participated in...

Re: dehydrated food and such

Good advice desertgirl. We had a fellow traveler that kept dehydrated food in his pack, I had to basically run a negotiations panel to get the ringtail out of his pack. evenstarx3 and Kurthzone can testify to that. Dehydrated or not, keep the food in the ammo boxes. Also remove cosmetics, toothpast...
