Re: Rough Canyon Loop w/ Reavis 109 North

I might be able to do this. I have a knee which is getting serious Advil treatment right now and seems as if it'll be ready to go... :stretch:

Re: A thru-hike .... deciding to decide

I agree with Tommy (Hi Tommy!), my PCT hike this summer(and spring and fall) was one of the finest experiences of my life. I'll fill in a few hundred miles of holes next summer on the PCT and then Spring 2010 I have my sights on...the GET. You sound like you're definitely thinking about light or ult...

Re: Powers Garden, oct. 25-26th

Hi All!! Looks like I made it back from the wilds of Canada in good shape. :D Only managed 1800 miles of the PCT, but hey, there's always next year. And lookin' for a hike! I don't hit town until the 19th, so maybe I'll be a little squeezed for this one, but it sounds fun.

Re: Pacific Crest Trail (April 15th- Sept 10th)

Hi all... I'm at Kennedy Meadows, Trail Mile 702.....WooHoo!!! I have pictures being posted to shutterfly. Login with email machipman @ aol and use a password of pctmike. No trail journal. I'm busier than I can believe and resting when not busy. The folks doing journals typically spend an hour a day...

If I may make a suggestion...go there for 2-3 days to let your system adjust to the altitude before you start hiking.

nonot, te-wa, wally and dirt... Thanks for the encouragement. I'll try to keep a running report going. BTW, where on this site would be the best place for that? Also BTW, the foot and the knee seem to be improving; I'm running out of excuses, I'm just gonna have to go! The date is fixed now...April ...

Pacific Crest Trail (April 15th- Sept 10th)

I'm not really expecting anyone to join in on this, but I thought I should mention it for forms sake. Leave Campo, CA on or about Tax Day on what seems to me to be the adventure of a lifetime. Try to show up in reasonable shape and let the trail build you into a thru-hikin' machine. Meet folks, see ...

Where to take 3-yr old on first overnight?

My son and I are going to introduce my grandson (3 yr old) to camping in a couple of weeks. I had picked Seven Springs as a reasonable spot for this, but looking at the web site it may not be open for camping. Besides, maybe one of you has a better idea. Given the attention span involved, it seems l...

Re: AZ Trail Hiking Partners

Here's what we have so far. Leaving Friday evening TBD. Arrive Patagonia 2.5 hours later. Most convenient lodging for the evening would be a B&B. There is a campground apparently, but I'm assuming we don't get in until 9:00 or so. Separate rooms or two per? Or do you vote for the campground? My ...

Re: Trans Supes hike II - early April

I'll put me down as interested, but, as things stand, I'm planning on a Pacific Crest Trail start of April 15th. :D So I'd be in Tahoe prepping gear and getting my Angel up to speed for a while before that. Mike, you described the Supes as a veritable water wonderland after the recent rains. I'm sur...

Re: AZ Trail Hiking Partners

I'll go with interested right now. I'm currently pointing toward a Pacific Crest Trail trek if the snow levels in the Sierra are reasonable. Trudging across 200 miles of melting snow holds no fascination with me! If the snow level isn't looking good, I have a Mar 15-ish to May 1-ish AZT trek laid ou...

Yep, I have some new stuff that's just itching to be "frosted". So we don't have to lug much water, but testing means you drag more clothes than you (hopefully) need. After being roasted a few weeks ago, it sounds like fun to challenge the chill!

Re: Trans-Supes hike, November 2nd-5th

Nope, not giving up on the AZT, just not sure when it will happen. If the High Sierra gets normal or below snow this winter, then my personal Everest, the Pacific Crest Trail, is in play for 2008. But I don't see hiking 100s of miles of snow as a challenge, only misery. So big California snow this w...

Grasshopper, Yes, when I first read about the Mazatzal Wilderness section, I ordered a pack cover within the hour! Probably needed one, anyway, but that clinched the deal. fairweather, You know, I've looked through that site and I missed that page for some reason. Definitely a good starting point fo...
