Roger and I decided to spend the night assembling our new kitchen so we will be @ the Fort @ 8 AM rather than waiting at the TH.

Our group is down 1. My brother Trip can't make it so it will just be Roger and myself. Just in case total group size matters.

@joe bartels Seems like the chicken might be one thats easier to just buy in the pouch and pack out the trash. We do frozen chicken quite a bit for the first night. Cook it and freeze it solid then pack it in the insulated camelbak and its just about thawed by dinner time. Would not do it in the su...

@rae-rae
Thanks for the great ideas! I haven't done pasta yet and your tips will be most helpful! The pesto sounds delicious!
If canned chicken dehydrates well then I'm thinking that freshly cooked chicken would as well?

Re: Dehydrator Recipes / Ideas
A friend used to dehydrate the spaghetti sauce for his trips. I've done the spaghetti sauce, but have yet to try the sauce and noodles cooked and then dehydrated together. So far i've done a boatload of vegetables: broccoli, onion, pepper, mushroom, carrot, celery, tomato, zuchini, squash, potato, ...

Dehydrator Recipes / Ideas
I thought for sure there'd be a Dehydrator thread on here already but I haven't seen one so here it goes...
If you use a dehydrator, whats the best stuff you've dried or the best recipe using your dried ingredients? Any horror stories on things you've tried and won't do again?

Really 53% don't enhance their hike with any substance? I think we've got quite a few closet partakers on this board. I can think of few things better than a camp cocktail around the fire at night and a cup of french press coffee with a side of greens in the morning. Though we've been known to have ...

@te-wa
We're all set for Saturday morning at 8 AM at casino parking lot. Two questions though: 1) is there any water source near the camp area? 2) Will my subaru outback make it to the TH or is high clearance required?
thanks -

I've been wanting to hike in the mazatzals but haven't yet made it yet. It'd be nice to tag along with someone familiar with the area for my first trip.... what time would you be leaving from the TH? And how big of a group are you looking at? It'd be me and my boyfriend if we went... We're both inte...
