I saw a really cool TV show showcasing this location on National Geographic about a year ago. High tech exploring. My kind of show..

The shelf in this photo heading out from the saguaro cactus on the right edge should lead towards the location.

Re: Canyon Lake - Glyphs
@TheNaviG8R Ha.. You're not worthy! Just look at my map attached to the hike description and within my photo set. The hike up from the lake is basically walk to the upper cliff face and hang a right. From there head across that shelf to the canyon. You'll find the petroglyphs and ground metat...

Re: Canyon Lake - Glyphs
There's definitely some up there.. https://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=125086 The ground metates in photo 19 were right below them. There was actually a couple others glyphs that were more faint and weren't worthy of trying to photograph. Ever since that day I've wanted to go back and explore up t...

Re: Should ruins or caves on public land be secrets?
I've shared many obscure Indian ruins on this website as destinations with full details. My site naming has always been a personal choice based on nearby named land features on topo maps. I lost track a long time ago just how many I've posted. Every site I've shared is a location that I physically f...

This is guaranteed perfection right now and the odds of seeing anybody up there is slim to none. You don't need a capable 4x4 and it's no-goose-chase safe. Enjoy..

Re: overnight kayak Lake Powell?
In my opinion, kayaking Lake Powell which I have done extensively, is best done from a houseboat basecamp. The best kayaking is up-lake within protected side canyons. Face Canyon and beyond. Paddling the lower lake can be very intimidating depending on conditions which can change in a millisecond. I...

I vote for Dam to Lee's Ferry. That just looks gorgeous down there. I've never personally done it but it looks amazing. Maybe someday..

Re: Bobcat sighting
I've been lucky enough to see a few over the years while hiking and driving in the wild. They're typically running away. I caught this one off guard at 15 yards and was actually able to click off a couple photos. It took him a few seconds to figure out what I was. A very cool moment that I haven't f...

Re: Sycamore Canyon - Bushnell to Round Valley, A
My preference is a highway pull-off often used by people to access Sycamore Creek Canyon at.. 33/50/16.20 & 111/28/09.60 A faint rugged trail/route heads northeast from the pull-off following a mixed drainage into the canyon with a large prominent downstream butte to your right while hiking down...

Thank you. I consider it a great honor. It's such an iconic magazine. It's been my dream. Seeing your photos in Arizona Highways for the first time is a feeling that's difficult to describe. It's humbling.

J&R El Rey Cafe "Lot's of Mexican Food choices for combo and a' la carte plates." I was impressed. The "hot" salsa was excellent.. Hot with great flavor. I'm a big green chili guy. Not many places do green chili right. It's always bland and boring. I ordered the "spicy&...

This would be a great adventure if you have a boat. I always wanted to do this one. I've only seen a photo online. It's an amazing setting. I spent a lot of time at Lake Powell when I was young. I miss those trips.

Re: Digital Cameras
JPEG processing? Like a cellphone camera? Isn't the whole point of having a dSLR with unlimited storage and removable memory cards so you can take the highest-quality photos in RAW? Isn't the entire point of RAW to eliminate the problems that JPEG processing produces? Even good cell phones now shoo...

Keep in mind the G9X and the G9X Mark 2 are a little different. Actually very different. I've been trying to figure out what changed on the Mark II. Now I know. Beyond Digic 7 and some other tweaks this model now utilizes "Picture Style" for its jpeg processing which is more similar to wh...

Re: Digital Cameras
My gripe about my images compared to "some" is really directed to the iPhone posters. I know what you mean. Smartphones even with there small sensor size take great photos very easily. They have what I call the "magic button". Your Canon with its 1 inch sensor is capable of taki...

Re: Digital Cameras
Though I wonder if I'm comparing to results I see on HAZ which benefit from a lot of post-processing either in our out of the camera. I would also add to never judge camera photo image quality from what you see posted on HAZ. Joe can likely add further to this. Web compression is rough on photos an...

Re: Digital Cameras
I seldom get shots I think are really sharp or impressive. Hmm.. That's interesting. That model does get some mixed reviews. Maybe they're not all the same in regards to image quality. In contrast, my dads G5X takes very impressive photos. And I'll add right out of the camera. Maybe you can try cha...
