Anyone camped out around Powers Cabin? Is that possible with the terrain there?
Need to do this in 2 days, and doing the big loop with the Garden and also going down to the cabin/mine won't be possible.

Re: Humphries Camping
Anyone know the Abineau-Bear Jaw area well? Looking for a nice, quiet spot for the Mrs. and I to camp in the area as we go up to hike to celebrate her birthday. Private, legal spots preferred
Thanks in advance!

@chumley Hi chumley ... I'm very familiar with the order and what it says, that's why I was confused seeing the "Bighorn closure" tab on the hike description... because as far as I can tell, none of those trails making up this hike are affected by the closure. But now I noticed that Catal...

Mount Lemmon to Sabino Canyon, AZ :: Question by azdesertfather
Hi all! I noticed the "Bighorn Closure" marking on this hike. Are there any trails/parts of this hike that would be affected by the bighorn closure?

Where are some good camping spots in the eastern half of Aravaipa? Either along the creek or just off into any of the side canyons? Haven't been in there in a few years, and both times I did it before, I hiked out of the boundaries beyond the conservancy to camp. I would imagine there are some good ...

@chumley Yep, 3 of the permits we applied for are now free as they can no longer go on the trip. I know they are hard to come by these days, hate to see them go to waste.

Tetons permits, 8/21-25
Have a few extra permits to hike the Tetons, if anyone is interested. I’m flying up, a few others are driving up. Some of us taking a couple of days right after that in Yellowstone.

Re: Two Fires In NW Tucson
They are putting out daily progression maps now, which is helpful. For today: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/photos/AZCNF/2020-06-07-2128-Bighorn/related_files/2020_06_16-11.23.43.692-CDT.pdf It shows Romero Trail has burned completely yesterday, from the park to the pass. I hear they have flown in expert...

@cactuscat They are also asking everyone east of Oracle Road, from Catalina SP all the way down to Magee, to voluntarily leave now, according to the Coronado NF Facebook page. Here is the current EVACUATION MAP: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/photos/AZCNF/2020-06-07-2128-Bighorn/related_files/pict2020051...

Re: Two Fires In NW Tucson
Tortolitas now 3321 acres and 25% contained, projected containment by 6/10. Bighorn is now 2556 acres and 10% contained, projected containment by 6/20. Catalina SP now closed. Bighorn fire yesterday went down the other side of the ridge to the Pima wash, so I guess the shindiggers won’t be as bad go...

@azbackpackr I heard on the news it was someone from the eastern U.S. Everyone knew it was in the Rockies, that was one of the clues...and that it was over 5,000 feet, near water, under trees where someone like him (in his 70s) could easily access it, etc. This was his website: www oldsantafetradin...

Pusch Wilderness closures
Hi everyone, I’m wondering if the annual Pusch wilderness closures are still in effect this year? It has been each year from Jan. 1 til Apr. 30, for the benefit of the bighorns. I haven’t found anything on it, and the last document I’ve found was for 2019... https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCU...
