Re: Pusch Wilderness closures

@DixieFlyer That’s what I was looking for! Thanks. Should have not depended on google to find it for me, and just gone to FS.gov!

Pusch Wilderness closures

Hi everyone, I’m wondering if the annual Pusch wilderness closures are still in effect this year? It has been each year from Jan. 1 til Apr. 30, for the benefit of the bighorns. I haven’t found anything on it, and the last document I’ve found was for 2019... https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCU...

Re: Pinals now shut down for the summer

Netflix has an interesting documentary on the Big Burn of 1910, which burned 3 million acres, ties into this conversation well... look up "American Experience: The Big Burn".

Cathedral rope

FYI, just found out from a friend that the rope near the summit of Cathedral is bad (sheath wore completely thru) and needs to be replaced.

Please pass this info along to anyone you know that might go there this year.

Pinals now shut down for the summer

Pinal Mountains shut down for the summer, for fire restrictions. Closure is pretty extensive. In place until July 31, unless conditions change and the order is rescinded.

Should bikes be allowed in wilderness lands?

Two Utah legislators are trying to overturn the no-bikes provision in the Wilderness Act. Should it be stopped?? I'd love to hear what you all think...I'm torn but lean to "no." Bill would end longstanding ban on bikes in US wilderness http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_MOUNTAIN_BIKES_IN_WILD...

all Sport Chalet stores are going out of business

Sport Chalet is going out of business everywhere. Their online store is already down, and there are 5 stores in the Phoenix area selling off what inventory they have for the next few weeks, FYI.

@The Eagle. Daisy was pretty traumatized. I heard she hasn't moved from the spot where the dastardly deed was done. :o

I can't believe this is actually a story...you know it means though that someone has actually been doing it ... Wildlife officials are asking hikers to refrain from bringing domestic sheep or goats into bighorn sheep habitat in the Catalina Mountains because the domestic animals can transmit d...

Re: John Muir access points

Joe, John9L & Grasshopper, THANK YOU!! This is just the info I was hoping to find. You're amazing.

One other question: bookwise, which one would you say is the BEST definitive guide for the JMT? If you were to get 1 book to take with, which one would it be (if you feel there is a good one)?

John Muir access points

Anyone familiar with the JMT, know a reliable place to look up access points? Hope to start this this summer, but will need to break it into 2 or 3 summers, depending on access point availability. I know they are quite limited but figure there have to be some at least.
