John and I talked to a ranger this morning. He said they started from dobbins lookout around 10 or 1030 and were rescued down holbert. Might not have seen signs, but still a bad decision. Probably knew they couldn't get back up.

rei doesn't carry much ultralight backpacking gear
my last few big ticket items have been from cottage companies
rarely need any gear these days
when they moved from southern and priest to 56th and ray, it is no longer convenient to shop there
