Re: Luddite seeks...

@LindaAnn @Hansenaz Linda, I used RS for my TH directions in the past, exactly as you described. New cars have that new fangled big screen. If it's Apple Carplay or Android Auto enabled, why not use it. You then have the ability to use all the google/apple maps features. ie. accident/traffic rerout...

Re: Have you lost or almost lost your GPS?

@Alston_Neal I have one with more Irony. I lost my first SPOT tracking device, on it's maiden journey. Joe and I were bush whacking through some incredibly thick foliage. When we stopped for lunch, I noticed it was gone. Knowing what we'd been through and that I'd purchased the insurance policy, we...

Re: Garmin GPSMAP 64

Ever since HAZ Tracks and then RS came out, my garmin 450 has been sitting in a box. The biggest advantage to the smartphone is the larger bright screen. I could never see the garmin screen in the sunshine. My 3 yr old smartphone is waterproof/resistant, but I treat it like it's not. If you decide t...

Re: Bush Fire

Driving back from the Rim this afternoon, I got caught in a heavy downpour with large hail starting from Mt Ord through a good portion of the burn area. It was raining too hard to see if there was any flooding in the burn, but the beeline was running strong in spots. Temps got down to 68, and then q...

@CannondaleKid
NW slope? It was not occupied last year when we hiked past it. It's made out of an old container, so it should have survived depending on how hot it got there.
