Re: GPSjoe-Joe Domin (Shared Good Memories)
Just found this thread and wanted to add that I was lucky enough to hike several hikes with Joe and Gabriella. I remember watching Joe hike and thinking for certain he was going to land on his face from time to time. He had a style like no other. Despite that haphazard style I never saw him fall. I ...

Camped down on 25 last night sporatic showers starting early this AM Headed to the TH now. As we drove down here yesterday aftrenoon the blockade going to TH was still up as we tried to go that way and they turned us around. But I am sure the road is open by now if they have called off the search. W...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
We are very gratefull for everything SAR has done and pray that our friend is found before you have to pull out. As you have read time and time again msot of us feel that the more eyes the better at this point. It has been made perfectly clear that this is no longer a search and rescue mission but a...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
One last definitive word on where to meet initially so there is no confusion. Please meet at 7:00 at the gravel/dirt turnoff at 1.2 miles in from 87. We will gather there and decide from there what is the best approach to handle the job ahead of us. God be with us all!

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
I don't mean to upset the apple cart just hours before every one heads out there but I don't understand the logic in setting up the volunteer "cammand post" more than ten miles away from the trail head. I know we don't want to be at the TH so as to stay out of the way of SAR but if hikers ...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
GTG_AZH has volunteered his truck for use as a shuttle. With that in mind I would be willing to drive shuttle freeing Todd up for hiking. Thank you Cabel and Thoreau for volunteering to take lead roles in this effort. I do hope that seeing these efforts we can put the SAR groups more at ease that we...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
Don't you think that there is a difference between "6000 people" and a hand full of experienced hikers? How can we possibly sit around and wait while time ticks by and chances get smaller and smaller that Joe is still surviving. I know this is not a thought that any of us want to voice but...

Darn, I can't make the 10th as I am planning to attend another hike but I can tell you that no matter sun or shade if you want a challenge and lots of fun take Hunter trail up then Sunset vista out! You can both drive out and place a shuttle car at the end of Sunset. That's how I did it and I loved ...

Pete, I admire you after reading this account of your misadventure.... You handled your self very well emotionally as well as the way you used your survival skills.... When I read this and Jared's post I have to say I think it would probably have been the emotional factors that would have gotten to ...
