Don't you think that there is a difference between "6000 people" and a hand full of experienced hikers? How can we possibly sit around and wait while time ticks by and chances get smaller and smaller that Joe is still surviving. I know this is not a thought that any of us want to voice but...

I like that answer big load! Canyoneering is hiking at it's finest! Once you have tried canyoneering just plain hiking will never suffice.
