AZ Trail work/ volunteer
Hi - I saw this in the Payson Roundup and am thinking about going up Saturday.
http://bit.ly/c7EWJC
Would head up about 5am from N. Phoenix; back home around 7 or 8pm I think? I could take up to 3 or 4 others.

backpack as checked luggage
Hi - I have a trip coming up and I'm thinking of packing in my backpack. Just wondering if it's required to put the pack in a big duffle, or if it's generally ok to just tuck all the staps in?
Thanks,
Bryan

Re: Top 5
1) Any loop with great views/ changing terrain. 2) Something with the sound of water, or a chance to get my feet wet. 3) A summit. 4) Something where finding the TH is an adventure and requires getting a cold beer in a tiny town. 5) Pretty much any hike where there aren't cell phones and the Interne...

Switzerland
Hello All. I'm in the very early stages of thinking/ planning some hiking in Switzerland and I thought I would ask if any fellow HAZ users have any experience they would like to share with me?
What I have so far is:
Location: Switzerland
Time: June(ish) 2010

That's about it.
Thanks,
Bryan

Re: Fall colors
I guess I should spend a little more time using the tools on the site! Parson's has been on my wish list, so I think that's the trip!
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Fall colors
Hi All - wondering where the best bet to still catch some fall colors this weekend (November 8th) would be?

Re: Im new and need some help.
It's going to take you a few trips to figure out what's really the best for you. I love my $5 pop can stove I got of ebay - that saved weight allows me to carry more wine. I think the first over night trip I went on I used a school back pack, and had close to no real backpacking gear. I still wore c...

Barnhardt access
Hi - anyone been up to Barndardt lately? Wondering how the drive up is and if 4x4 is needed or just a little clearance?
Thanks,

Hi - This sounds like a great day trip. Any chance there is room for another body to carpool up from Phoenix? I'll pay for gas even.

Re: Radical ramen
I was looking over past threads getting some ideas for an upcomming trip to Havasu. Seems a lot of the recipes on that page have ingredients not suited for backpacking.

Re: Backpacking Happy hour
This has been my method the past few trips. It can't be a coincidence that they make 1 liter wine bottles and 1 liter Nalgenes? When the wine is gone, I have a Nalgene to mix up some Gookinaid or Gatorade in.AZBrad123 wrote:packed up my nalgenes with wine.

Horsethief Basin
Hello all. I'm just curious about Horsethief Basin rec. area. I've driven by the sign on I-17 so many times and always wondered what was over there. I checked out the Prescott NF site, and there is little information on there, and not a ton on HAZ either. Are there any decent trails here? Thanks, Br...
Re: Havasupai
Rather than start a new thread, I figured I would continue this one. There is a group of five of us going up Thur-Sun in May. Just curious what the opinion is on starting in on Thursday? We are hoping to beat the crowds down, but now I'm questioning if that's reasonable unless we get on the trail 5-...

Sunrise Peak
Hi - I've only been out here a couple times now, and the trail map the city provides isn't too clear. Does anyone have the distances from Lost Dog TH & 128th TH up to the peak and back?
Thanks,

I love the Sierra Anchas (both sides.) I would surely join if my darn boss wasn't on vacation, hence leaving me to check in on things over the weekend. Is there any broadband Internet up there?
Have a fun trip.

Hi - As I read your post, I immediately thought of Alpine and the Three Forks area and how badly I need to get back up there.
There was an article in Arizona Highway's 'Hike of the Month' not long ago that highlighted this area too.
