Re: East coast hikers looking for 1 day long hike in Tucson area

Thanks to all the suggestions. Made a few stops to the 2 Summit Huts in town to gear up and enjoy the sales! On Saturday, we completed the Finger Rocks hike up to Mt Kimball with a stop at Linda's Vista. What a killer view and a rocky descent. Our entire trip took us 5-1/2 hours. There was only 1 ot...

Re: East coast hikers looking for 1 day long hike in Tucson area

Hey, sorry to drag us back on topic again, but... Thanks for all the opinions on hikes. We did Kimball via Finger Rock yesterday. Thought it was great! Will post details later. In a few days we're going to do Rincon Peak. Would love to have the GPS file posted here, but the requirements are that you...

Re: East coast hikers looking for 1 day long hike in Tucson area

Thanks for all the advice so far. Let me try to pull it back on topic here for a minute. :) We've narrowed it down to one of the Kimball hikes or Rincon Peak. How would you compare the Kimball hike to Rincon Peak in terms of traffic, scenery, and difficulty. We're looking traffic, and maximize scene...

Re: East coast hikers looking for 1 day long hike in Tucson area

Rincons will require a fee, technically even if you are coming from the back side. The only single day trips to the summit and back are from Italian Spring or Turkey Creek (For all intents and purposes) and both require 4WD and some previous knowledge of the area to navigate to the trail head witho...

Re: East coast hikers looking for 1 day long hike in Tucson area

Thanks for all the great suggestions thus far! Is anyone familiar with the Rincon hike? Sounds interesting from the triplogs I've read, but haven't seen anyone mention it in this thread yet. How does it compare to the hikes already mentioned? Also, what weather/temps should we expect as we head up t...

East coast hikers looking for 1 day long hike in Tucson area

We'll be in town for a few days and have 1 full day to get out on the trails. Looking for a day long hike that is difficult, has little traffic, and has killer views. We're experienced east coast backpackers/hikers. Have also climbed/hiked/backpacked quite a bit in CO and MT. We'll be in the Tucson ...
