Re: Motorized Electric Bikes On Trails

If I'm the only one that questions $47,040,000,000 then it's safe to say that there was a time when a $1,000,000,000 was considered serious money.

@hikeaz
Just scroll up a few posts to CannondaleKid's last post. I don't know what link he referrenced, but I got the impression it was such a tedious read that he figured he was doing his HAZ peeps a favor by not posting the link.

@SpiderLegs

I have a vivid recollection that a member of my biking club back in '93 or '94 told me she had just received her Master's Degree and her starting teaching salary was, as you mentioned, $20,000.

Pretty good money back then. I'm guessing the rate hasn't increased a whole lot since then. And if my assumption is correct, then the mechanics are simply making ARIZONA money. At least the biking opportunities are virtually limitless.

@nonot Earth to nonot!!! Not all diseases are created equal! You would be well served if you boned up on the R0 (R- Naught) factor. According to the Forbes article below, COVID-19 ain't your usual influenza virus; it's a BEAST: https://www.forbes.com/sites/tarahaelle/2020/04/07/the-covid19-coronavi...

Re: Coronavirus and hiking

@nonot And I have no idea the life history of everyone I pass by, so even if they had been tested, I have no idea whether their test passed or failed. Besides, COVID is transferred via symptomless carriers, people who would never be tested, who are infected. Ergo, the rationale for "self-distancing".

Re: Coronavirus and hiking

@nonot
Would you knowingly put yourself in close proximity to someone who you know has tested positive to the COVID-19? Would your answer change if you didn't know he had tested positive? Testing would allow you to make an informed choice.

Re: Coronavirus and hiking

I'm not sure what trails are shut down but I'll bet if you pick a trail other than in the Phoenix or Sedona areas there will be a high likelihood you'll find a lot of trails sans other hikers:

Re: Coronavirus and hiking

Arizona is the sixth largest state in the Union and I believe some 80% of the state is public land. It shouldn't be that hard to find a trail sans hikers save you. Hell, there are thousands of obscure trails posted right here on HikeArizona.com.
