Need Shuttle to South Bass TH - Gems Trek 2019
Party of 2 is looking for a shuttle from Hermit's Rest Parking area to South Bass Trail Head on March 23, 2019. Timing is fluid but anticipated time frame is afternoon between 1300 and 1600 hours. If any HAZ adventurers have an interest, there are presently two spots available for anyone available t...

Re: Hiking vehicles
I finally had to retire (temporarily, I hope), my 1998 Geo Tracker (which was (will be, again?), very reliable...). I've replaced it with a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser (manual trans). Really love the FJ (but... sadly... don't love the gas mileage...). It's taken me anywhere, on/offroad, I've wanted to go...

Good day to you as well!! Haven't been hiking in so long, I haven't felt worthy of posting... couldn't resist the Globe thread, though.

Re: Best Mexican Food Restaurant in Superior/Miami/Globe?
As of Sept of last year, "Libbys" was open for business... can't vouch for the food as I never ate there while I lived in Globe. Hopefully, it's better than the other places Globe is famous for...

We highly recommend trail umbrellas... Trail tested, hiker approved (ask Liz!)

Re: what is the best gps device?
My Samsung Note 3 works well with HAZ tracks. My Garmin 60cx hasn't been too inaccurate (once I configured it for "hiking mode"...). I use the phone for day trips and the Garmin for longer excursions. As soon as I'm set up to recharge devices in the field (solar, USB, etc) I'll probably ma...

I''ve got the goal 10 solar panel and this battery pack: http://www.goalzero.com/shop The company has a "kit" that includes a Li-NMC battery/charger, however, I prefer the battery pack because it's more versatile (same basic features as the Switch 8 but also has AA batteries for use in oth...

Re: How far to a hike with some pine trees?
There are plenty of Pines in the Pinal Mountain area... The experience isn't exactly the same as the CA trails we're used to (I'm from there...) but they're definitely not the desert you've been experiencing... Come up to Globe and I'll show you the trails (PM for details and contact info).

I was told they were behind on their payments so the property owner put up the fence and closed them down. I never got a chance to try out the chips!!

Disdain!? Not at all... That would imply I'm self-loathing and totally lacking in self-esteem (silence, Alston...). I have nothing against Cali-phony-ians (but I'm still shocked you've voluntarily become one!)azbackpackr wrote: I guess now that you are an Arizonan, you disdain us LaLaLanders

Funny thing about those... You might've run into the opposite if you've gone into a local (CA) eatery looking for a Breakfast (or other) Burro.... I've just realized they don't sell Burritos in AZazbackpackr wrote:I realized I had run into an Arizonism

Re: Redflex Corruption
I always think of this thread when I drive past the cameras in Superior!! And when I'm in Vista (CA), I can't help but notice they're one of the last cities in that area to still have their cameras operational. Other towns around there have placed bags over the dis-used hardware...
