It actually was run by the Navy for a long period time. The US Air Force was involved at the facility also, as were private contractors.

"HAZ" - TWICE
I ‘PM’d Joe today and he suggested I add the PM to a HAZ forum. Here it is: ========================== Joe, “HAZ” TWICE !! I’m on Google earth alot, scouting out anything in the desert or mountains that looks interesting. Well, I found something very interesting. Just north of the city of Maricopa &...

Re: HAZ Tracks - GPS Hiking App
@chumley I've had Apple products since my first Apple IIe and I wouldn't buy any other manufacturer's stuff. (Sounds like an 'old dog doesn't want to learn new tricks). However, I have learned to go very slow on updates to firmware/software etc. I read reviews for at least a week before making a ch...

Apple has had a ton-of-trouble with the launch of IOS 8 and 8.0.1 and 8.0.2joe bartels wrote:It'll be 1-2 fun days to rewrite the code. Then 7-14 days for iTune's lightning fast approval.
I'm stay on the latest version of IOS 7 until they figure it out.
FYI - Your Ver 1.8.4 works perfectly on IOS 7.

Re: HAZ Tracks - GPS Hiking App
Joe, Thanks for all your hard work.
I look forward to V1.8.4
Battery usage (a couple versions ago), on my iPhone 5s, was a concern.
It appears you've tackled that issue quite well.

Re: HAZ Tracks - GPS Hiking App
I have an iPhone 5s and am running IOS 7.1.2. All was well until I (today, 19 Sep) connected my iPhone to my iMac and started up iTunes. I had been running HAZ Tracks 1.8.2., and since HAZ Tracks 1.8.3 was available (as of 17 Sep), iTunes did an 'auto-update' to 1.8.3. The update went normal. Howeve...

Re: HAZ Tracks - GPS Hiking App
Version 1.7.9 on my iPhone 5S appears to work very well, except for 'calculating profile data'. The info "1-2 seconds per thousand points" appears in the info window, and that's as far as the profile calculation gets. The HAZ track App does not freeze, however. By hitting the profile choic...

Re: Where are you from?
The quiz pegged me to the midwest, as I answered the questions as if I was a kid. The quiz was correct. However, from age 18, I've lived in NM/IL/WI/AZ/TX/FL/AZ (again)/GA/IL (again)/WI (again)/and AZ for a 3rd time. I vividly remember 'words' being pronounced differently and different phrasiology u...

Re: the New Year's Day Tradition Continues.....
Well, I have to cancel - I just found out I'll be stuck in the midwest a couple more days. :( I've been up Stewart Mountain a few times, checking on a benchmark that tends to easily get 'buried' under the sand. It's on the highest/furthest peak. The benchmark is located in a small open area just bel...
