Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
Summit Register: Both TRSAR and Mountain Rescue Teams checked out the summit register on the first day of the search. Mountain Rescue only found the TRSAR names and a name from the previous day, not Mr. Domin's. I have asked around regarding the maintenance of the summit register and some reports st...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
Regarding the possible tracks found by TRSAR on their second day in, keep in mind that Mountain Rescue inserted some teams at the summit of Sheep Mountain on the first day and they worked their way down the most likely egress paths. It is likely that these disturbances were from their movement down ...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
HAZ, Busy night for Mountain Rescue. One search in the Superstitions and another on Four Peaks. Fortunately, both had a positive outcome. I was in Fox One (MCSO Helicopter) and did a fly-by of the area this afternoon and saw several groups in the field. This was actually the first day that we were a...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
Clues: You can email me your clues and I can pass them to the appropriate contact. Please consider the reliability of each clue before sending it though. Often we will receive reports of items that are clearly not associated with the missing subject, i.e., a pair of glasses that have clearly been in...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
Remember, there are more many clues and only one GPSJoe. Look for clues such as a debris field (hat, pack, hiking poles, glasses) in areas where a fall may have been possible.

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
HAZ'ers: Within the next week, or so, we will have a firm date for a Wilderness medical class in January. I am going to reserve it for HAZ, but note that there is a max of 24 students per class. If needed, we typically conduct a class every month or two and can set special classes for your group. On...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)

Perhaps I can provide some insight based upon the information that you all have posted over the last week. As many of you have discovered, this area presents consi...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
All, Many of you have presented some good points, most of which we have already considered and acted upon. It shows that you have good experience and are knowledgable in the area. However, several years ago, in Canada, a young boy was missing and 6000 "volunteers" showed up to "help&q...
