Re: Bear Bedfellow - Ponderosa Campground 5-31-12

People say the bear population in Arizona is healthy but for some reason I doubt that. To Azgfd, people seem way more important than the actual wildlife.

Re: Border Fence Blocks Bear Migration

I recently read an article that said they released some wolves into northern mexico and was just wondering if it was true? The article also said that the border fence will prevent the mexican gray wolves from spreading into the sky islands of south eastern arizona.

Re: Heat Index

Out in the midwest and eastern US anything over 90 degrees with a high humidity is absolutely miserable, while I can hike in the desert at 110 degrees relatively easy.

Re: Monsoon chatter

It's one of the yuckiest nights we've had in the 24 years I've been out here. At 2:00 am, its 82F and 77% humidity (dew point 74F). It got up to 100 today and I didn't turn on the AC until I got home from work. By "AC", I mean the dinky little window unit that normally suffices to cool th...

Re: Bear Brutally Mauls Woman in Pinetop

I do feel sorry for the bear as well, its possible the fire affected it and it needed a new place to find food. But i think the police who dispatched the bear, should have made sure 100% it was the right bear.

? :? Jim H: I believe RedRoxx is referring to the photo of the bear cub that is running from the camera. Redroxx: thanks for the link...those 140 or so photos were very useful to see. Finally we can get a feel for the severity of the burn in some areas. I was most anxious to see the Rustler/Barfoot...

Re: Horsehoe 2 fire-Chiricahuas

Sorry everyone I've been out of town. Is the Murphy Fire completely contained and stopped burning?

RedRoxx44 that picture is extremely sad, makes me worry about all the other animals out there? Where will they find food, and shelter.

Re: Cataract Creek

Based on maps Its seasonal and it also looks like there are a couple reservoirs on it as well. As it runs through williams its dry, probably because of the Sante Fe Reservoir. I have heard as well that before all the dams it use to run. Same with Walnut Creek though. It use to be perennial until all...

Re: Horsehoe 2 fire-Chiricahuas

Yes, based on maps I have seen it looks as if the entire range is up in flames. This is extremely depressing and I would hope they would replant to get those trees back. But I was just going to say while the Wallow Fire is much bigger, there is still a ton of forest left up there. The Horseshoe Fire...

Re: "Wallow Fire" in Bear Wallow Wilderness

According to inciweb the actual fire is within Arizona boundaries, just in New Mexico they are burning out some forest so there is a lack of fuel for the fire. I still think the fire is within Arizona boundaries.

Re: Apache Creek Wilderness

According to some info I have seen there is a little trail that goes through the wilderness, I was just wondering if the creek there is reliable or not.
