Hey guys, what about the full west fork hike (I have a brand new topozome map of the full canyon)? We would love to tag along too if you'd have us. We'll be gone 4th of july but the next weekends are free. Obviosuly if there is any chance of rain West Fork is out but it's an idea.

west fork

Hey, we would love to go along on a two day trip also. We were trying to plan this about a month ago but our buddies fell thru and we didn't want to go alone. We are pretty much available anytime except July 4 thru 7, weekends are best but we could probably do a friday or monday. I have a ton of inf...

Sherilee, I'd recommend sticking with Popular and REI. The army surplus place seems to be more expensive with most stuff and does not have a good return policy. At REI or Popular you can just about return ANYTHING for ANY reason. Plus, the people at either one can help you pick out the best gear for...

Matt, I'd recommend West Fork. There isn't really a definite end until you get out of the canyon (12+ miles upstream) but the maintained portion of the trail is about 3 miles each way. This part is really easy (large sandy trail and easy water crossings) but you will get your shoes wet. Join us on s...

easy West fork group hike

Guys and gals, I just added a group hike for the West Fork trail at Oak Creek Canyon to the main HAZ pag. We plan to go saturday morning (June 21) about 10 am. It will be an easy hike along/thru the creek. We are bringing the dog and baby so no swimming for us. We'll picnic at the end and then head ...

Sunday hike (June 15)

Anyone interested in a group hike on Father's Day? We are thinking about heading up to West Fork of Oak Creek, or Horton Creek in Payson, or maybe someone has a better idea. Someplace cooler than Phoenix with water but not too far away (and no real swimming since we'll have the baby in his pack too)...

Thanks guys. I didn't even think of dispersed camping near Oak Creek. We'll be giving that a try several times this summer. Any suggestion on what fire road to take for a nice area near water? It'll just be me and hubby and maybe another couple (no kids). We also want to hike and camp one night in t...

family camping suggestions?

Help. I am planning a family camping trip for our local MOMS club and need some ideas. We need someplace not too far away (from Chandler) and OK for small children. I don't think most of the families do much camping or hiking so I am looking for something easy but nice. I was thinking the West Fork ...
