Re: Snow on Humphreys
@Jim_HWhile I enjoyed my single malt scotch on the summit a certain aroma wafted up from a group seated about 20 yards below. I'm sure they all have their medical marijuana cards.

Re: Snow on Humphreys
I did get up there on Saturday. Snow in the trees at the upper end of Inner Basin Trail and above Weatherford junction also. A few people in the Basin but a non-stop conga line from the saddle up to Humphreys from Snowbowl. Hundreds, I would guess. Swarms of gnats on the top. Worst I've seen it.

Re: Sierra Estrella Ridgeline
Thanks for the PIR tip. The events are 3/12 - 3/15. I think you guys did the route I'm looking at. How long did it take? Arduous. Sounds good!

Re: Sierra Estrella Ridgeline
I am figuring that this section could provide a good preview of what a single day out of the three or more necessary to do the whole thing (with water drops) might be like. Sure could stand to have someone with experience go with. Start just before dawn.

Sierra Estrella Ridgeline
Did some road recon yesterday. Willis Road east from the Sierra Estrella Pkwy is do-able in 4-wheel. I am toying with the idea of doing the piece of ridge-line that surrounds the headwaters of Corgett Wash. A single vehicle can be parked where the two spur ridges nearly come together. Going CCW you ...

Re: Superstition Ridgeline Snow Hike
@skillpore OK. So here is the deal: My truck will be at the Lost Dutchman in the event that I (or we) make it all the way. I will be leaving Carney Springs TH at 0630. As I mentioned earlier, if it gets too 'narly I will bail out, either back to Carney or out to Hieroglyphic. Either way there shoul...

Re: Superstition Ridgeline Snow Hike
@skillpore Wunderground has it delivering the 0.32 inches of rain to the Mesa, AJ, Gold Canyon area through Wed about 2200. If that holds up then there will be little additional snow on Th (good visibility), and since it will have snowed until well after dark on Wed the snow will have had no chance...

Re: Superstition Ridgeline Snow Hike
@PhilMW & @skillpore Here is my plan: If no-one else signs up, I'll have my wife drive over with me to Lost Dutchman and drop my truck there. Then she will drive me over to Carney and drop me there (she is an angel). I will be there by 0620. I'll start at 0630 by headlamp. Should be light enoug...

Superstition Ridgeline Snow Hike
A month ago I tossed off a flip remark in a triplog about someone doing the Four Peaks Mother Lode Tres Veces, at night, in the snow, while playing the trombone, and said I would leave that sort of thing to others. That has not changed, but...... The weather is shaping up to produce rain in the vall...
