I, sincerely hope you will be carrying a GPS & a Personal Locator Beacon, just in case. You can download a track here on HikeArizona of the Ridgeline hike, beginning @ Siphon Draw. It's always good to know WHERE you are in relation to WHERE you SHOULD be.

YES, we get a change of season here in Reno, something you Zonies no little about. You'll want to bundle up when the sun goes down. I well remember thinking anything below 70º...

@LindaAnn
I strongly suspect you are being disarmingly modest about your swimming ability.
However, there can be absolutely NO DOUBT about your superior hiking capabilities.

I carry a 5 oz softflask containing 50% Brown Rice Syrup; 20% Molasses; 30% Honey & add a little water to thin the mixture. It is my version of those costly Energy Gel packs.

hmmmm, & what about showers, I'm talking about a bathroom shower, not a rain storm. I, sincerely hope you have different views between "showers" & "Ponds/Pools/Lakes"?

Re: How much water is required for it to be a "Pond", or a "Lake"?

@chumley The technical distinction between a pond and a lake has not been universally standardized That just about says it all. I placed a cache @ Rock Lake here in Nevada (https://coord.info/GC5FGE1) Back in 2014 & 2015, it was not much more than a glorified mud puddle & I took photos to prove it....

How much water is required for it to be a "Pond", or a "Lake"?

To MEeee, a Pond should have enough water that it shows up in a photo, deep enough to get your feet wet if you step in it while wearing high top boots & contain fish; a lake is something large enough for boats & fish. This is merely my "opinion".

I day-hike ONLY. I have carried & used the MSR mini works EX Purifier on a half dozen occasions. It has always provided me with clean water meaning I've never had any ill aftereffects from drinking water it puts out that I've drunk. I have no explanation/reason for not carrying it with me all the ti...
