The best State to hike in is the State you live in because those are trails closest to home.

Re: More to inflatable insulated sleeping pads than meets the eye (not to mention, ear)
I have the 20" wide, 72" length XTherm. It's kept me off the cold ground, it hasn't leaked thanks to its 70D ground side material, its light weight & takes up little space inside my backpack & it has an R6.9 rating. No air mattress in the world is going to disturb my sleep after I'...

When all is said & done, Subaru still has the 4th best CUSTOMER LOYALTY of all car manufacturers so they must be doing something right.

Please, let us know all the details of your overnighting.
Do you have a dedicated GPS hand held or a Personal Locator Beacon as something you can use in an E-M-E-R-G-E-N-C-Y
Cell phones can be iffy out in the boonies.

You'll pay a $7.00 Park Entrance Fee & need to be out of the park by closing time (Call: 602.506.2930 Ext 5) for details on when the park opens/closes. You need look no further than the White Tank Mountain Park for all your daily backpacking hikes/trails . It is the nicest, best maintained Count...
Re: Midlayer
@SJFL I often carry a Decathlon Forclaz 100 as a mid-layer, something to wear around camp & or something to layer on B4 crawling into my sleeping bag; it's a hooded down garment with 800 fill power Down. Packs really small & weighs 10.2oz - Decathlon rates it to keep you comfy warm when the...

I bought an MSR Whisperlite when they first became available in mid 60's. It still works like it was brand new. The trick is learning how to light it without the flare-up. 2 years ago I bought a Soto Windmaster & haven't looked back. I always start any hike with a full 4oz container by using the...

By the time you've dropped your drawers any nearby buzz worm will have headed in the opposite direction as fast as it can crawl.

What if there's no tree around? Find two rocks that you can place under the heal of each boot. Now drip your pants & squat. The rocks under each heal give you the support to remain upright. Drop your load, wipe, pull up your pants, not cover the crap with dirt then return to the trail & keep...

Re: Ticks in Arizona
I've never thought about ticks or Lyme disease as a threat. I've read all the replies to your topic. I'm going to get some permethrin spray next time I'm in REI, Sportsman's Warehouse, or Cabela's. Thank you for bringing up this topic. Today, 31 Jan - I just bought a 24oz spray bottle of Permethrin ...

@rcorfman I wish there was a way to add my photo that shows my XTherm & Sleeping bag on top of the slider board of my Total Gym at a 30º angle. The XTherm & air mattress stay put thanks to small sections of Shelf liner between the gear & slider board. The shelf liner weighs 4oz. I actua...

@BubbaJuice I suspect there are numerous others waiting for their order of Shelf Liner to arrive B4 they reply/comment. It's an unbelievably easy/inexpensive way to fix a problem we all experience most every time we put a sleeping bag on top of an inflatable air mattress. Please come back & say...

STOP Sliding OFF your Inflated Air Mattress
