Re: Indian Spring Peak 4900 - Tonto NF, AZ :: Question by kpomm
@The_Eagle Latest attempt on FR1333 was 12/16, and where TRAL sign is near Quartz Tank, ran into rain. Hiked in it for a bit but realized temp was dropping and mud had already been a problem. So no luck that Friday but we'll try again. Thanks for your help

Re: Indian Spring Peak 4900 - Tonto NF, AZ :: Question by kpomm
Thanks, Joe, Cannondale and Eagle. If we aren't rained out, we intend to try the hike tomorrow. Since Caryl is 5'1' and I'm only 5'6", we'll have to use a bit of discretion. Scrambling in the canyon's wash last week was a challenge in some areas and I don't want to be a poster child for S &...

Indian Spring Peak 4900 - Tonto NF, AZ :: Question by kpomm
Cannondale Kid and Joe Bartels - Is it possible to hike FR1333 to area above Indian Springs Wash, then descend into the wash from that area? I hiked the wash from the bottom about 2/3 of the way in and would like to make a loop from FR1333 down. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: El Oso Mine/Indian Ruins nearby? Question by kpomm
Thanks, Cannondale, for the video tour of the mine. The YouTube version works on my computer. And Joe, thanks for the info on the mine's ore. After seeing photos, I realize that I've seen quite a bit of scheelite in Az in various places. The Four Peaks area is great and all the forest roads - some a...

Re: El Oso Mine/Indian Ruins nearby? Question by kpomm
Thanks, CannondaleKid. I'll take your advice, park and walk since I know my car would be a casualty on that road. Couldn't get the video on the mine to load for some reason, but I enjoyed the forest road ride. Still fascinated with that area, Boilder Bo, the Ballentine cabin, etc. ther's much to see...

El Oso Mine/Indian Ruins nearby? Question by kpomm
Am looking for information on trail to El Oso Mine and nearby Indian ruins. Haven't been up the Four Peaks road for a few years and wonder where the trailhead parking is for that area. Does anyone have any information? Thanks in advance.

@CannondaleKid S @mazatzal Success! Along with three friends, I found the Boulder Bob Cabin Trail, hiked the pass to the ruins, and returned to the Bushnell Tanks parking lot. Absolutely beautiful day with clouds, some late flowers, and water in Sycamore Creek. Thanks, Canondale and Matazal, for yo...

Re: Boulder Bob's Cabin Trail, AZ :: Question by kpomm
Again, I thank you. And yes, I meant the trucks in the wash. Last time we hiked #1452 south, then beat the brush for a bit. This time we' lol follow your instructs, Matazal, and your maps, Cannonodale, and I'll let you know if I get there. Although I have 4 wheel drive, my car could use 1704 only if...

Re: Boulder Bob's Cabin Trail, AZ :: Question by kpomm
@CannondaleKid Have printed your maps and studied them, along with satellite from Google. My question is this: Do I pass the used truck lot and turn south after that point? The next item of real demarcation is the gate which needs to be opened and closed. I'm assuming I go south before that point I...

Re: Boulder Bob's Cabin Trail, AZ :: Question by kpomm
Thank you CannondaleKid and Matazal. We were close yesterday but no cigar. The cat's claw and small ironwoods are wonderfully sharp; found only 1 cairn and bushwhacked for an hour. Lunch in the streambed, then back to the AZT and north on 1452 back to the Bushnell tanks and corral. Although we misse...

Boulder Bob's Cabin Trail, AZ :: Question by kpomm
Have hiked the AZT from Bushnell up past the wrecked trucks for another mile or two. Would like to hike to Boulder Bob's cabin but do not have GPS. Does anyone have any waypoints to share for those of us with no GPS. Thanks. Date: 11/27/14 kapomm
