Re: Mount Humphrey advise
Talked with the District Ranger yesterday, she said the ice was gone and only occasional snow on the trails. Not knowing how packed it might be was thinking of taking micro spikes. Would it get that packed, or shouldn't I bother?

Hey, covid had people stuck in their houses for over a year...what do you think they were doing?

I know Arizona has them, but surprised I can’t find a book detailing them. Any suggestions for waterfall hikes? Forget Havasupai, tried for 10 years to get a reservation with them with no luck. Finally gave up.

I'm doing the state peaks, which is why I was looking at Humphrey. If it doesn't work out I figure on just shooting over to Tonto.

I understood what you meant, and I will check, I was just commenting on the likelihood of a May post since the last one was 3 years ago (2 if you consider the dearth of hiking last year at that time).

Considered that, but the last May triplog was from 2018, so not holding out hope for new postings.

By "fine" are you still expecting hard packed ice, or are you talking clear trails (mud is no concern). Just want to pack for the right conditions.

Thanks. Will hope for good weather, plan alternatives if things are too bad. I was coming down to Az anyway, so thought I might try it if things are nice, if not then maybe September next year.

Coming down at the end of May to hike Humphrey, was wondering what to expect in the line of temps (esp bottom vs top) and trail conditions.

Is it limited now to Arizona? I used to click on an option to switch to a different state, say, Utah. I can't find that anywhere.

Well, this year (Oct) looking at some of the ruins around Tonto. That's what started this, I noticed (on their website) that dogs are allowed on all but the trails where scrambling is required.

Big difference from here. We have no NP's, everything is a state park, forest, or national forest, where dogs area allowed everywhere. When I first started hiking in the Tucson area it really hit me that I couldn't find a single trail where I could bring my dog.

Okay, question. Does the existence of the three paws (even if all three are 0) mean dogs are allowed but no one has rated it? Or, does it mean dogs not allowed, or not known?
