I agree with the above description of brown's chute...its a pleasant hike and a decent scramble...the drive from town is kinda crappy tho as far as in town scrambles you can get in some class 3/4 at papago park...the east side of the squaw peak summit as well...there is some ok scrambling around cam...

i would be interested in doing a couple day trip starting in the desert just north of the high point and moving south as far as i could carry water for. maybe cache some around quartz peak...im going out tomorrow to explore another big segment of this area

i did the ridge on new years last year, the snow was awesome....we lost the trail coming down from 5057 towards carney, right as it was getting dark. luckily we found it again with hardly a moment of day light left. it was awesome! going back tomorrow for a repeat (no snow though )

Went up el oso road (from the east) and could only make it 7 out of 11 miles to the trailhead due to snow. We were in a regular clearance 2wd with no chains, could do it with chains and or 4x4. But otherwise plan an extra 4 miles before and after the hike. The snow was thick on the part that stopped...

lack of sunlight was our only issue. we didnt start til 830am and made it to the top of peaks 4,3 and 2 by sunset...opted not to also climb browns in the dark since we had all done it before...descended the nastiness on the west side between 1 and 2. prob still safer than continuing the route. 12 ho...

im planning to do it saturday. if we encounter any specific challenges that are worth noting i will check back here and post them
