Re: Car Camping & hike Near Sonoita AZ
Parker Canyon Lake and Patagonia Lake State park have been on my short list of places to visit for some time now. I don't know why but they have been beckoning me to check them out. But they look well developed and potentially very busy. Thanks for the tip on Gardner Canyon. Based on the trip report...

Car Camp & Hike near Sonoita AZ
Hi, I am looking to tie in a hike (maybe mtn bike ) with the Southeast AZ Wine Growers Festival near Sonoita / Elgin April 14th / 15th at Kief-Joshua Vinyards ( http://www.kj-vineyards.com ) . I see a few sections of the AZ Trail as possibilities. Mt. Wrightson looks too far to back over to Sonoita....

Maybe that is why they tend to dive bomb the Coleman Lantern at night. :-)

Re: Water in Sedona/Verde Valley area?
Yes I was thinking West Fork Oak Creek Canyon. Not sure if a permit is required. The two times I have done it someone else was lead and planned the trip. Lucky me! Casner Mountain / Mooney is very close to Dogie Trail. Looking at the mid Feb Trip reports on Dogie trail shows that there was no water ...

Re: Water in Sedona/Verde Valley area?
Sycamore creek via the Doggie trail - I was there a few years back in late fall. There was no water at that time. I doubt there would be water now, but check with the local ranger district and see if they know. There were a number of campsites so it appears during the right time it can be busy. In ...

Re: Water on Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Loop
We hiked Dogie and searched around the creek area but found no water. We spent the night at the camp sites just above sycamore creek and hiked back out in the morning with just enough water to spare.

Water on Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Loop
Anyone know of the current water situation along the Dogie, Sycamore Canyon, Taylor Cabin, Casner Mtn Loop? I am planing a 2 night backpacking trip up there Nov 21-23rd. I contacted Coconino Forest Service, they initally said there is no water sources running now, but on further questioning said the...

Re: November Backpack with Water?
Thanks! I think you are referring to South Fork Trail #97 (Little Colorado) to Mexican Hay lake based on your trip reports. Yeah it will be quite chilly this late in the Fall. But need to add this one to my to do list for a warmer time.

Re: November Backpack with Water?
Thanks for the recommendations. I have done West Clear Creek a twice. Lots of boulder hopping and in and out of the water. If I am going to do something like that I would do Aravaipa. Easier and better scenery with lots of side canyons to explore. The others on the trip are not too keen on walking t...

I have not been able to gather enough people to do the through hike. I have 3 people total going. We will be going in from the west trailhead. If I can get 3 additional people to go then we could get a group to start on the east side. This close to the hike I doubt that we will get any more takers. ...

Cold feet
In response to Daryl's reply: I have gone in mid September, late May and early December before. My favorite time is early December. The cottonwoods are turning colors and the cool crisp nights have knocked out the bugs. When you go in late spring prepare for the mosiquitos. Ben's 100 and REI Jungle...
