Shuttle: Apache Junction to Superior
I'm in Apache Junction after finding no place to stay in Superior. Seeking a ride to the Superior PO and then Picket Post on Monday morning. I'm aware of Greyhound and possibly Uber but was hoping for someone a bit more trail aware.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Passages 1-7 in March
I just finished 1-3. There was about a mile of snow coming down Miller Peak. Not terribly deep, but a little icy. Everything else to Patagonia was in good shape.

Re: Shuttle suggestions
Lyft?
Both locations seem to be in their service area. It gave me an estimate of $65.

@cavaroc
There are 3 guys that started in mid-Feb that are now as far as Kearny. Seems they've had some short stretches of no more than ankle deep snow, but nothing to worry about, and it could very well be gone or mostly gone by now.

Re: Sleeping Gear
I'm taking the Six Moon Designs Gatewood Cape as both shelter and rain gear. I haven't used it on a trail yet, but I did the CDT with a Wild Oasis, which is a very similar shelter, including a stretch of 11 days of nonstop rain and I was quite happy. Not 100% sure on it as rain gear, but for the amo...

Re: AZT snow hiking strategies
It's pretty unlikely(thought not impossible) that any of us is going to get trapped in a sudden freak storm the dumps tons of snow in March/April. Most of the snow to be concerned with is going to already be on the ground. So you just have to start walking. If you get to a point that there's too muc...

Re: Eating Cold or Hot?
I love no cook. I've been doing it for 5 years now. I don't even rehydrate things, so I have no water usage for meals.
I've never missed a hot meal after a long hot day in the sun. Everyone is different though.

Re: Cost of a thru hike?
I haven't done the AZT yet, but I've done the AT, PCT, CDT and a bunch more. Generally, if it's your first hike/you get in a group that spends a lot of time in town/you drink frequently or smoke/you prefer more expensive foods or nicer accommodations, your hike will be relatively expensive. $2.50 - ...

I'm flying into Tucson very late on March 1st, and hoping to get started either the 2nd or the 3rd. I'm fairly moderate paced, and pretty happy to hike alone. I would be happy to share transportation if anyone is starting at the same time though.
