Re: 2025 Arizona Fire Season

@Jim
I'm curious, what does me exploring the fire perimeter on HAZ have to do with me providing an update on the Billy Fire? So, because the fire is burning in a 25-year-old burn scar, it's okay? I'm not understanding what you are getting at.

Re: 2025 Arizona Fire Season

Fire activity has increased a ton on the Billy Fire since Sunday. Peterson Ranch was evacuated as the fire is now on Aztec Peak, moving down towards Moody Point and also moving back down into Reynolds Creek. It would be a travesty if all of these areas were roasted by this fire, which was nearly out...

@xsproutx
I've never seen it graded before, but I guess that this allowed them to widen it in some sections to use as a fire break should they ever need it.

Re: FR 172 & 172A to Rogers Trough TH

Drove up 172/172A over to 650 and back down to the 60 yesterday. The 650 is freshly graded the entire way and is currently like a super highway. Last time I drove it in October, there were a few spots even I was nervous to do in the 4Runner, but not anymore. In some areas, the dirt is soft, but noth...

Re: 2025 Arizona Fire Season

There is also a smaller fire in the Anchas. The Billy Fire is currently 362 acres burning on Center Mountain and the Billy Lawrence TH/Canyon area. Does not seem high intensity right now, hopefully just burns away all the locust.

In my opinion (which means nothing) it should be automatic jail time for having a campfire, shooting, etc. during restrictions. People just don't care and will do what they want.

Re: Water Upper Grant Creek in the Blue Range Wilderness?

I did a lollipop loop yesterday. Plenty of water in Grant Creek from the cabin site to the Paradise junction. I filtered a couple of liters and it tasted great.

60 between Superior and Miami is going to be closed until Friday. Per ADOT after blasting on Tuesday 2.4 there is unstable rock that needs to be removed which is causing the extended closure.

The last half ish mile after the 650 junction is by far the worst! I don't think I would attempt it with that van especially if it's a rental, however, you could park near that junction and walk the rest of the way to the TH. It is supposed to rain Sunday so that may make it worse then the current c...

Peralta Road

FYI if you haven't been out to Peralta Road lately, they have started digging trenches on the sides of the road to prevent squatters from camping on the sides of the road and to help with the side-by-sides driving wherever. Eventually, they are going to put up a fence on both sides on the State Trus...

Drove it today over to the Reavis TH. Smooth as glass as expected right now just being graded but give it a couple weeks of tread on it and some rain and it will be a crap show.

Re: 2024 Fire Season

We a couple of fires in the Superstitions started by last night's lightning. Lightning hit the ridgeline just to the north of 5057 and started a small fire, which I think burned itself out as I did not see it later in the night. There was a fire by Apache Lake near the turnoff to the Reavis TH, whic...
