@SpiderLegs
In Tucson, a good training hike for "summer peak bagging season" is Mount Wrightson...closer to Phoenix, I think that Mount Ord fits the bill

Re: Mask Mandate On Federal Lands?

I saw this today from the National Park Service(NPS): https://www.nps.gov/orgs/1207/covid-mask-requirement.htm Below is an excerpt. Face masks are now required in all NPS buildings and facilities. Masks are also required on NPS-managed lands when physical distancing cannot be maintained, including n...

Re: Mask Mandate On Federal Lands?

@Jim_H
I also saw in the order where "federal land" is defined as land under executive branch control. I would think that national parks and forests are under congressional control, but I could be wrong on that.

Re: Road Conditions - How this category works

@SJFL There are actually 2 TH's for hte Safford-Morenci Trail; one on the west side of the trail and one on the east side...Salt Trap Road goes to the west TH, so you may wish to specify that in your inquiry...I went to the east TH last month, but it doesn't sound like that is what you are asking for

Re: Favorite HAZ Sub-Region?

@Jim_H
It would be the Tucson sub-region for me. It includes the entire SE part of the state, so it is a lot more than just Tucson proper. There are a lot of great hikes in the sub-region, and the area offers lots of diversity in hikes. Plus you can find something good in the sub-region year-round.
