Will do! Hadn’t taken 288 much past where the trees start. Great to hear there’s plenty of options. Thank you.

@big_load
Unfortunately I called a ranger office yesterday and they said all the roads are still closed though. Do they normally do that until the mud dries up a litttle?

Spring car camping suggestions

Hello fellow outdoor enthusiasts! I’m looking to do a couple nights car camping over the weekend. Looks like the roads up on the rim are all closed and it’s too cold and might even have snow on the ground if I head east towards showlow or alpine. So I was looking for dispersed camping around Payson ...

@RedRoxx44 Mental illness is not the same as being stupid. I really take issue with this. This woman is possibly very sick and probably on drugs, yet you wish to pass judgment on her IQ. If someone has colon cancer we feel sorry for them. If they are mentally ill we scorn them? Come on guys, why ar...

Was this the one with the edgy "settlers had it coming" spray painted on it? "Coconino National Forest staff are in the process of consulting with Yavapai-Apache Nation cultural heritage representatives to develop a balanced narrative of the site and present interpretation from both p...

Re: REI Mountain House Fail

I should have mentioned in my prior reply about Peak Refuel Freeze-Dried Meals . Besides the fact that: 1. there are no TVP or other fillers, 2. There are more grams of Protein per pouch than other brands. 2. Much less water is required to re-hydrate their meals than Mountain House or any other bra...

Re: 27.5" tire size bikes

@rustyshackleford135 Nice! You can take your bike to the LBS, or go with 1" gorilla tape, 2 laps, and buy good valve set on Amazon. Although your rims are "TR" maybe the tires are not, at least something to check. New tires are no problem, love Maxxis or WTB. The tires are rimless re...

As bad as it sounds, the traffic might limit how many people are going up to flagstaff and the surrounding area. Making it easier and quicker will only add more people. How crowded will flag and coconino be after people realize they don't have to sit in traffic anymore?

Re: Hiking etiquette with dogs

Not a dog owner but I like dogs. I'm happy to encounter off-leash dogs but really it should be common sense. Busy trails where some fraction of people don't want to deal with a strange doggy certainly should be leashed all the time. Where hiker-hiker encounters are rare, the off-leash dog owner sho...

Re: Hiker Stabs Mountain Biker in Right-of-Way Altercation

@Pivo Throw a handful of dirt in the face or some pepper spray in front of a speeding, oncoming biker. You can't miss & should effectively blind the biker. I'm going to have to keep this in mind as the preferred way to deal with speeding & or overly aggressive bikers. The biker won't have a...
