Re: inReach Mini Bundle on sale COSTCO

@big_load Agree with this so much. The documentation does a very good job at laying out what to expect but we all know... most people don’t read the manual and have unrealistic expectations. I agree with every word of @wildwesthikes post. Disclaimer: I used to work for garmin, although in a differe...

Rain Collector on AZT 16

Looking to do a section hike that includes this area in the next couple of weeks. A recent guthooks report shows that there is water here but I've been screwed by guthooks in the past, even from a report within a couple of days, so curious if anyone has been through there recently and can report on ...

Re: Superstitions Water

@wallyfrack
Question for you. There are more than a few water sources labeled as La Barge (fill in the blank) on the map. Which one is where you took that picture?

Re: Superstitions Water

@SJFL
Sorry, when the forecast changed from the 93 it was a week before the trip to 100, I changed plans. Haven't hiked that area before so didn't feel comfortable with that temperature knowing I'd have to carry a bunch of extra water as well

Re: sleeping bag purchase decsions

I have an EE 10 degree quilt that gets used year-round pretty much. When it's warmer, I just kick my legs out to regulate the temperature but it's still warm enough for most everything else in the winter I've done.

Re: Horton Creek - Overnighter with toddler?

Welp. Looks like I waited a bit too long and the fire will likely/certainly have this closed tomorrow. Anyone have any other ideas for somewhere that has water to filter and is kid friendly? Is it possible to hike half of Woods Canyon loop and bushwhack off trail a little to camp...?

Crap. I was going to take my daughter on her first overnight backpacking trip to Horton tomorrow. That doesn't seem likely now :(

I should be going on Friday to do an overnight, just planning on doing the boulder canyon loop with a trip to la barge. I'll update accordingly

Re: Horton Creek - Overnighter with toddler?

@wildwesthikes Thanks! Figured this was the case but since I have the kid, I have to be an "adult" and "responsible" and be extra sure of crap. BTW, I watched one of your videos on youtube the other day and subscribed. I'm really into outdoors youtube but seems so many of them are hiking in the Whi...

Horton Creek - Overnighter with toddler?

Hey everyone! First post here but god knows I've used this site for a while. I come with a question that I'm pretty sure about, but just want to double-check. I'm looking to take my daughter (4.5 years old) on her first backpacking trip this upcoming week, either Monday night or Thursday night. I've...
