Re: Outrageous changes to permit fees for State Land entry
The 14 day limit is only for camping. From my permit: "Camping (restricted to no more than 14 days per year). It's intent is to control all the squatters who park their RV's on state land during the winter. There's no way anyone would know if you camp overnight here and there at various times d...

Re: Upper Horrell T/H - Campaign Trail
Kurt, I don't have current info, it's has been a year since I've been on 449a. The rancher has a sign posted that 4WD is required--that's mostly due to the possibility of soft sand in the creek bed just past the ranch. If no one replies that has been there within the last week or so, you might try a...

Re: Coyote Buttes permits for Jan 18th and 19th
The Wave is probably the dune-like sandstone you've seen in photos. The trail to the wave is easy with some scrambling if you go beyond the wave to a couple of arches. 2.5 hours is about right. The turn off is halfway between Page and Kanab. I'll send you a PM.

Re: Water at "Bluff Spring Mountain" spring?
There wasn't any water on top of Bluff Spring Mountain in Hidden Valley. We intended to check out Bluff Spring for water on the way out but ran out of time. I may get a chance to check out Bluff Spring next weekend.

Water at "Bluff Spring Mountain" spring?
Anyone know if there is currently (or usually in the fall) water on top of Bluff Spring mountain at what some maps call: "Bluff Spring Mountain spring"? I'm not asking about Bluff Spring near the intersection of the Lost Dutchman and Bluff Spring trails--rather the spring in the center of ...

Four of us took the advice in this thread on a 105° day in Phoenix and did the See Canyon hike as recommended. We did a loop, going up See Canyon and then over to the upper Drew Canyon TH and down it. It was 86° at 3pm as we returned to the See Canyon TH parking lot. Great loop! 12 miles in 6.5 hour...

Three of us did this today. Great drive and hike! The drive to the split between FR305 and FR306 was a lot easier than a year ago. Light water flows in the creek seem to have filled in sand and dirt among the larger rocks. The road NW from the split was between a 2 and a 2.5 on a scale of 5 for off-...

Re: FR306 & 305
In response to Stiller's reply: FR 305 was passable a year ago in a Jeep with a 6" lift and 33" tires. Part of the road is in the creekbed so it changes with every hard rain. The rancher blades some of the embankments to give access to the creekbed. These would wash out in a rain and make...

Red Tanks Cutoff vs official route of the Red Tanks trail?
Does anyone have any info on the Red Tanks "Cutoff" versus the Red Tanks trail to get over the Red Tanks divide? The "cutoff" around the SW side of the divide seems to be the only trail currently in use. Has anyone taken the official trail around the NE side of the divide? The di...
