Thought this was interesting since they banned it before I was born. Why didn't they wait?

These spectacles still occur elsewhere, but usually with the assistance of modern technology. Some bachelor party revelers put on a similar display in the Mazatzals a few years ago.

Well that was uplifting, but on a brighter note I'm that much closer to my dream. I'm betting this will be the year the Bureau of Reclamation grants permission for me to launch 100 flaming grand pianos off the face of Hoover Dam.

Re: Waterfalls of Fire
There used to be waterfalls of fire in Miami AZ. I remember sitting on the porch at my Aunt's & Uncle's house back in the 1950's and early 1960's. The train would haul several cars of molten waste from the smelter and dump them down the mountain. The talings were the dry stuff, I think this waste was called the sludge or slurry but I don't remember. We would watch this lava flow down the hill. I distinctly remember the smell of sulfur on some nights. I hope this is as close as I ever get to fire and brimstone. The hill was an ugly black eyesore. Miami Inspiration has removed all of the old waste and is revegetating the old hill.

Re: Waterfalls of Fire
The Dons annually would have a fire fall above the base of their camp in the Superstitions next to Peralta Trail. I do not know when they stopped doing it but there must be pictures of the event available somewhere.

Re: Waterfalls of Fire
Apparently you can still see something similar (and maybe even more spectacular!) if you just go the right time of year...
