Easy one night beginner trip

Post by CCBen »

I just started to get into backpacking and wanted to go on a trip this weekend but my more experienced friend bailed. Any suggestions on a short 5-8 mile one way trail where I can camp Saturday night with decent weather?

Appreciate the advice,
Ben

There's another active thread on a similar subject that has some good infomation in it:

The higher elevations may be too cold this weekend. There's snow in the forecast above 6000 feet.

Haunted Canyon is 5.5 miles to Tony Ranch.

The Superstitions should be nice. Reavis Ranch from the north is a little longer than your mileage request. From the South, it's shorter, but more challenging with a backpack.

You might want to hike to Angel Basin from Rogers Trough. This description makes a loop, but I would just do the out n back in Rogers Canyon.

Horton Creek would be fine if you're ok with temps dropping into the upper 20s overnight. :o
I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.
