Cibecue Creek car and backpacking camping options.

Post by louie »

Looking for some info on backpacking sites along Cibecue creek on the way to the lower fall and also car camping spots along the road to the trailhead or anywhere else along the dirt road. Any car camping spots that would get us close to the Salt River or other creek side car camp other than the river guide camps? We have a high clearance 4x4 so wondering if there are any branches off the road we could jeep camp and be by the water. Much thanks! :)

Most of the creekside camping is downstream of Cibeque. There is a big communal camp that the paddle raft guides use during the season, but beyond that (downstream) there are a few before the road heads up away from the Salt - the road (insomuch as it is) is no bargain though.

Awesome! I got a jeep so no worries on the road. We'll head downstream from the mouth of Cibecue and look for sites along the Salt. Thank you for the tips!

If you are gung-ho after the hike and want to head much further downstream (20-ish miles) you can easily access the Salt @ Gleason Flat (turn south on I-290 at about 33 49.758 x 11041.417 - it jug handles back around to I-29) ...and, hell just keep going at that point to Cherry Creek!
