A heads up for anyone interested: this weekend the Tucson Symphony (including the present poster) is gonna be playing the most famous evocation of mountaineering in classical music, An Alpine Symphony by Richard Strauss (who also wrote the famous theme music from 2001: A Space Odyssey.) It's a colossal and vivid depiction of an out-and-back hike in the Alps, and a tremendous undertaking for any orchestra. Thought it'd be worth mentioning here because it's a piece that over the years has really intensified my appreciation of the mountains and the natural world in general.
Hope you'll forgive this brazen little plug! PM me with questions, or check out http://www.tucsonsymphony.org/

Re: An Alpine Symphony
I'll be playing too. Regrettably, there's not a "through the shindaggers" or "Sabino Canyon tram on a weekend" section, but I hope it might speak to a few AZ hikers anyways...

Re: An Alpine Symphony
As a season ticket holder, I'll be there.
It should a heck of a show.
It has been a marvelous season this year. Thank you, Musicians!

Glad you enjoyed it! I thought it went well; one of my favorite programs here. Had a conference call with JLG today and he seemed really happy with the performances.
