weekday day hikes

Post by ajcanable »

Hello I was wondering if anyone would like to do some day hikes on weekdays in the supers. or somewhere else nearby? Does'nt really matter to me because I have'nt really been anywhere! (just moved here recently)I have weekdays free and could use a little less solitude when I hike! So if interested please let me know I'm ready to go with a moments notice.

In response to ajcanable's reply: REI or Popular (they always are on sale there).

In response to ajcanable's reply:

Hi Andy

Still need a hike buddy. I have hiked a lot of the Supers. Want to do four Peeks this week. I am 60 but very fit. I plan a 600 mile hike in Australia in 2004.

Eh, Joe?

Tevas don't know what day of the week it is. Tevas don't know weekends from weekdays. Tevas only know the fleet of feet. Tevas know trails.
Buy Tevas. Tevas be Da Best! Just ask Joe! Teva Joe.

I too am a TEVA lover

I have had the same pair of TEVA's for some time, and they are awesome. I even play golf in them. Nothing like kicking them of for a few minutes while putting on a nice soft cut green. I have not hiked in them, though. When I get to the hikes that require many creek crossings, I will now utilize them.

So do I hear a TEVA hike in the making?????

11 Miles in Flip Flops! Quick call Guiness.

Joe Bartel converted me to Sandals two years ago, and I haven't had a blister or sore feet since. Surprisingly, the cactus have never been a problem.

I've got to try Tevas on a hike some day to see what all the excitement is about.

I just look at how beat up my boots get and think that would be my bare foot. Do you wear them on trails like Siphon draw to the flatiron?

With the boots I wear, I don't see any added flexability by wearing Tevas. My boots aren't too high, I still have full range of motion. If my ankle were to bend beyond what I can normally bend it, then my boot would offer support (or at least that is what the designers say...).

Snick that's great

many others have tried without success
I think you have to try it for over a month before you can bat it down
then many still won't find peace in sandals

I would and do wear tevas up to the Flatiron. In fact that's a great hike for tevas. Unless I need to wear pants for brush the sandals are usually on.

my boots weigh 1lb 11ounces each
tevas 11.6 ounces each

that's almost taking a pound off each foot
which isn't just weight it's weight in motion

you know how good it feels to take off your boots and cool off your feet
why heat 'em up, you wouldn't wrap a scarf around your face unless it was cold outside

It seems pretty common to ask "I'll beat my feet up"
I've really never had a problem with sandals
Yes there's the occasional pebble you need to shake out & your feet do come home dirty as sin
...at worst
Going through cholla areas you're carefull not to step on prickly balls
Same case in boots you kind of look, but you'll probably end up "unknowingly" fling one onto yourself or a friend

but if you're happy in boots keep wearing 'em, no need to spend extra money on sandals
