What is the next doosie????

Well, I think that we had such a great group last time at four peaks. I would love to go out with that group again on some hike that we get to spend some time chit chatting and things.
Would anyone be up for another outing?
Some people call them epics, but, I thinks doosies is a good name. Kind of a play on "do-able"

Any suggested hikes? Maybe an overnighter?
What do you think?

I am game for anything. I have been having an itching for a backpacking trip though. Maybe a night or two out in the wilderness in the cold???

Keep me posted, I would love to go with you guys, I'm still bumming about the last trip, but once I get my new shoes, I should be set to go! I'm down for almost anything, I got a bunch of good stuff for christmas I'd like to try out as well, let me know....

what about doing a one or two nighter into the Supes. Logistics would be easy. The only place i know is Reavis, not another Four Peaks kinda hike, but plenty of water and plenty of space.

How about something in the sedona area? I've never been but I'm sure there are some great overnights we could do. Personally I'd love to go to the supes but I'll defer to the majority of the group (of course).

Reavis sounds good to me, but I haven't been out there yet either. I would think Sedona would be a bit cold for an overnighter this time of year, but if thats not an issue with you guys then it's not for me either.

I did a two nighter (some trail, mostly off-trail) in Sycamore Canyon near Sedona last weekend and it was not too cold at all. Caveat of the day: It was not warm by Phoenix (or Superstitions) standards. I did not see anyone the entire three days, so you'll probably have it to yourself. Just make sure you have a comfy cold rated sleeping bag if you try Sedona in January... However, I would not recommend going during a relative "cold" snap like Arizona is having right now.

I think a shuttle hike of Sycamore Canyon from north to south would be something you'd all enjoy. Just make sure to explore Little LO canyon en route. A loop hike is also possible in Sycamore Canyon with some planning.

This is an overnighter I've been thinking about. Hike up Loy Canyon and camp atop Secret Mountain. The next day, head down Secret Canyon. Loy Canyon looks kinda boring but the summit of Secret Mountain looks really scenic, and I've always wanted to do the canyoneering trip down Secret Canyon from the top. This might be a more comfortable hike during the warmer months though.

Another thought. Sycamore Canyon near Nogales is an excellent canyoneering hike and it is doable during the winter with a little rock scrambling to avoid the water.

Alright, i will throw out my other hike i would like to do. I have been spending time going through these hikes and getting myself a list built up.

How about doing the Peralta to Canyon Lake hike?

It is a long hike, but the first saturday in February will have a setting full moon at almost 8am. Perfect for early hiking.

Along the lines of brads idea, we could do a canyon lake to peralta hike through labarge canyon (mostly off-trail creek walking) this could be done as a long day-hike or moderate overnighter (its about 15 miles).

With "Friend's" Reavis Falls is slated for Jan. 24th, and the Ridgeline hike is coming up February 21st. .....(we were scouting an alternate(to Siphon) decent to the North from the Ridgeline last W/E .)

I'd also be game for N-S Sycamore... dropping down from the promotory south of White Horse Lake & out @ Parsons T/H.

These hikes look good but I'm probably out depending on timing. I have a Saturday class this next semester which means I'm only available to hike on Sundays. I'm going to the White Tanks on the 10th and have reservations at Kartchner on the 17th. Here's my 2 cents worth.

The Canyon lake to Peralta hike is a good dayhike. You could make it into an overnighter by camping at one of the springs like Charlebois. The ridgeline I think is more interesting but less chance of water along the way. If we get some more rain then Reavis Falls pretty cool to visit. It's a dayhike but you could overnight at the old Sycamore tree where you turn upstream on Reavis creek.

I'll keep an eye on this thread and see if I can make it wherever you decide to go. [/code]
