Fall Service Project volunteers needed in GC...

Post by hikeaz »

The Grand Canyon Hikers and Backpackers Association (GCHBA) Fall 2006
Service Project will be held Wednesday, October 11 to Monday, October
16, 2006 at Phantom Ranch and Bright Angel Campground. The first and
last days are for hiking in and out. The project work activities should
similar to what we did at the 2005 Fall Service Project
( dead link removed ) with the addition of some
reveg work.

Saturday or Sunday be the play days with about half of the group
working Saturday and the other half working on Sunday. On one of these
days Jim Ohlman will lead a climb of Sumner Butte. If time allows,
then walk the Redwall rim over to where one can descend into Wall Creek,
and return to Phantom via the N.Kaibab. This would be a very long day,
but not totally unreasonable for Canyon junkies!

You should be a member ( dead link removed ) and must commit to working about 6 or 7 hours a day during the project. You do not have to participate for the whole time but we need to know your schedule inadvance for meal planning. The spots are filling up quickly so if you are interested in participating please contact us @ <( dead link removed ) .

That actually sounds like it would be a good one to do. I've heard of other trips that required you to sign up for a week or two mandatory and it didn't sound like a whole lot of hike time either. I'll be in Hawaii that week though :(
