Welcome to Arizona! We just moved here from FL 8 months ago, and have a hiking smorgesborg out here compared to the SW coast of FL. Before I moved here I bought a book from Arizona Highways(excellent magazine in case you didn't know) called "Urban Trails,Easy Paths & Overnight Treks", that not only has their signature pictures but very useful info on hiking in the state. Best of luck!

Do you backpack or fly-fish? In summer come to the Black River in the White Mountains. Plenty of backpacking, car camping, day-hiking, around there. You can backpack 40 miles round-trip along the Black River, not leaving the water's edge very much all that way. It's about a 6 hour drive from where you are, though. Definitely for when you have a long weekend or more.
