Found Camera - Reavis Creek near Reavis Falls

Post by Dirt4dinner »

Yesterday while crossing the Reavis Creek, I looked down and saw a camera case stuck in a branch in the creek. My guess is the camera probably didn't survive the swim, however the memory cards appear to work and one of them is a LARGE memory card! There are only two photos on it though, here is the one that apparently is the owners of this camera. Do you recognize them?

Do you have a better one where I could see the face of the guy in the middle? He looks a little like Jack Carlson.

This is probably of no help, but I met a group that looked somewhat like those three at the Ranch in November. If they are the same, the only clue I can add is that the younger guy with the red/purple pack was wearing several SAR/EMT patches.

After popping the camera apart today I found out that it has been in the creek longer than a day or two. It might very well be from November! There is a lot of erosion and rust in the camera case. However, those memory cards still work so I will keep a little hope alive. I might try to send the photo to the SAR/EMT and see if they recognize. Thanks for the tip!

Well, I looked at that guys profile...then I did a google search for his screen name and found him on Backpackinglight.com. There is another photo there of him...but from a long ways off. In the fore ground I see what appears to be a blue or purple pack. Could it be?!?!?!? I even know the guys name...but he doesn't have an email address listed on Backpackinglight.com, and he hasn't logged a hike on HAZ in several years.

I also emailed the photo I have to Superstition Search & Rescue. The commander got back to me within minutes and was going to send the photo to all 30 members of the team. We might find the mystery hikers yet!

.....only to tell them their camera is ruined. :) Oh well.

that dude's name is Dan Moline.

Not the same dude as seen in the camera's memory card Im sure. Chances of that would be one in a google.

Yeah I figured it was a long shot...he was active on the other site on new year's day with a review on a sleeping bag. However, he doesn't have an active email address associated with his account.

Nope, haven't gotten the line yet. I haven't figured out a use for the rest of it. I only need 6-8 in. of it. I might just have you use black. Then again....I might have you make a bunch of stuff sacks....in which case I will buy the orange line. :)

My hammock should be here tomorrow.

That picture isn't Jack Carlson, I'm 100% sure of it. His pack isn't purple :)

I'll post around and see if anyone recognizes those people.
