Looking for a hike with old mines.

Post by Out for some air »

Was looking to go on a hike to see some old mining spots. Id like to see some of the old equipment and some nice scenery. Any suggestions will help. Open to anywhere in the state.

Those are among the best. You can find smaller tidbits by searching on the home page (not the forum) for "mine machinery" or "mine equipment" and read the lines that end in "[AZ Hike Description]". (be sure to checkmark the Include Descriptions box)

Removing bodies and injured hikers from mine shafts was a hobby of mine when I worked with Superstition Search and Rescue of Pinal County. :scared:

san domingo wash , go toward morristown make right on casstle hot springs road first left at dirt road after pavement dies out then shortly there after a right. you can park your car after a few miles then hike down to san domingo wash taking a right once in the wash after a while youll come upon an old processing plant really a cool stucture. good topo maps are a big help to do a off trail hiking to get back to your vehicle. very scenic and a cool area. you can drive this whole route in a high clearance 2 wheel drive. i usually explore this area on my quad. but hiking would be a much more peaceful way to check it out there is a lot of history out here, you could drive a good distance up the wash until you hit a 4 foot dryfall get out of your vehicle and just hike until you get tired. never explored beyond this point but looks interesting. bring plenty of water and make sure your vehicle is in good shape.
