Good morning, Telluride!

Post by azbackpackr »

Left Eagar yesterday at 5 p.m., crammed in with 5 guys in a 6 passenger pickup truck, on our way to Telluride. We arrived at midnight. I volunteer for Apache Rescue Team, a youth group, and we do first aid at mountain bike races. This weekend is Mountain States Cup Full Tilt Telluride. Some of the top US riders will be here for both cross country and downhill events.

Woke up this morning from our 4th floor, comped, luxury hotel room in Mountain Village to views of some 13ers and at least one 14ers, with the sun coming up and shining on them. Hello, Rocky Mountains!

I'll post comments and some more photos as the weekend progresses.

So you weren't involved in the Maclusky arrest in Springerville? ;)

They don't call Telluride "The Most Beautiful Place You'll Ever Ski" for nothing. It's a stunning little corner of the planet.

Love the area. We've camped many times by Wild Boy lake, near Alta Basin.
I envy you for being there.

It is heavenly here. I will post more photos later. Today watched countless downhillers do crazy stuff, and later on took my bike up gondola to old Telluride, then rode to see Bridal Veil Falls. Rode all around the town and the city park.

I think it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. This is the second time I have worked this race, first time was 5 years ago.
