water availability at Reavis Ranch

Post by IHike »

I am planning a backpack trip to Reavis Ranch for New Years and plan on spending 2 nights out there. I have read several trail descriptions and it sounds like there is year round water. However, I don't want to get out there only to find no water source. Has anyone hike the area recently and what are my prospects for having ample or even just sufficient water?

reavis creek was flowing more than it has been in the past decade. a very good flow as of November. there is even water flowing over and out of the trough at Roger's Spring. you can always count on water in reavis creek but its refreshing to know, the 13 year drought appears to be subsiding, at least this autumn anyway.. now if there was only water at angel basin... :(

Check out previous postings to locate the spring north of the reavis ranch site.

Just did the Southern route to the ranch Nov. 6-7. There was plenty of water once you got close to the ranch site.

Just a reminder that the Apache Trail (State Route 88) is still closed for construction west of the Reavis TH.
