Recommendation for Colorado Summit

Post by mtlongisland2 »

Ive hiked everything thats interested me here in AZ. This fall when i get done working, sept, im looking to expand my horizons to other states. I was originally thinking mt whitney or mt adams, but there so far away. Does anyone know something closer in CO that would peak my interest? I generally am looking for something none technical (crampons ok), higher than humphreys, and hopefully not thatttt far of a drive from phoenix area. Otherwise i may have to make the trip out to CA or WA. then ill need a companion

Adams is far, but Whitney isn't that far, and will be about equal to anything you can get to in CO from Tempe. You won't need crampons for what you'll do in CO or CA. You can try Langley nearby Whitney. In Colorado, if close by is the biggest thing, then you're looking at the San Juans and I recommend Hesperus.
