Reach Reavis Ranch by Woodbury TH

Has anybody ever started their hike from the Woodbury TH to reach Reavis Ranch?? Our goal is to take Woodbury TH to Rogers Canyon (110#) so we can see the cliff dwellings in Angel Basin. From there, we hope to loop our way around to Reavis TH (109#) and then head North to Reavis Ranch. Is this possible? If so, has anyone done it?

The reason we are looking at Woodbury is because of the rough road that FR172A presents. I've heard FR172 isn't all that great, but is still manageable with a vehicle with ground clearance.

On another note, does anyone know what the temperature will most likely be at Reavis Ranch during late October. I did some research and found avg temps for the TH but I'm not too concerned about the TH itself, just the actual ranch. We are looking to travel there for a week and wanted to know what the day and night temps would be before we committed.

when you return, take frog tanks trail back to angel basin, then to woodbury.

I am unsure which trailhead you speak, but if you look at the map you'll notice the Rogers Trough t/h and the ranch site are roughly the same elevation (minus 3° for every 1000' gain).

You should expect Reavis Ranch to be a good bit cooler than the hike in. I would imagine it would be pleasantly chilly at night. If you're into ruins, you might want to check out Circlestone while you're out there, too. I would say, Reavis Ranch is a good choice for October.

I would imagin you would be taking the JF Trail (Woodbury TH) to Rogers Canyon Trail. Never done it, but looks like one hella nice trip. Reavis in Oct. should be good weather, but you never know. Could be pretty warm during the day and cold at night. A 4 day trip?

From Woodbury be prepared for a rocky ankle busting trail, catclaw and no water. On the return from Reavis hike up to the Rogers Trough Trailhead and hoof it down to the old abandoned road that goes west to the Woodbury TH. Do expect much cooler temperatures at Reavis unless you camp somewhere higher out of the valley and its humid cold night time temperatures. If your packing light just spend the night at Circle Stone and enjoy the night time sky.

I was out to Roger's Trough TH at the end of July and both 172 and 172A were in very good shape, such that they could have been driven in a normal clearance car. However with just a few monsoon rains the roads could get rutted pretty quickly.

Thank you for all of your replies. I have been to the ranch one time previously in June of this year. It was an overnight trip through Reavis TH North and we were way too exhausted to head up to Circlestone (100+ temps). I definitely plan on visiting Circlestone this time though! However, once we reached the ranch I swear it had to be around the low 80s during the day and 50s during the night (I can't be certain of this since I didn't have a thermometer). I read a couple of posts on this site by more tenured members, which mentioned it will be a lot cooler than anywhere else due to it being in the valley, the orchard, the creek and some other things at play.

I heard frog tank is a very pleasant trail in comparison to the overgrown Woodbury TH. I'll have to look to look into that option for the way back.
